Don is a no-nonsense attorney who works quickly and gets the job done right. Amy is absolutely fantastic - helpful and responsive. I'd recommend working with Don's firm.

I hired Don Cosley to represent me last year and he was nothing but unprofessional throughout. He was 25 minutes late to the hearing and did not call to tell me he would be there soon. I even called his office and they said that he would be there eventually but would not contact him for me. Once he showed up, Don left the trial twice to talk to other clients. The judge yelled at me twice to go find him when my it was my turn. I did eventually find him but it just made the judge more impatient. He did a decent job during the hearing when he finally got there thus the 2 stars.
I later called his office and left him a voice mail on his cell phone about obtaining documentation that my case was dismissed and never received a call back. I guess he only returns calls when money is on the line.

Nothing for Something…
After a short evaluation, we selected Waltz, Palmer and Dawson (WPD) for a simple estate resolution, and it turned out to be the most disastrous decision in my life, especially from a financial standpoint. We entrusted our case to Millie Palmer the “P” in WPD, who was a neighborhood acquaintance because she acted like she was interested in our position and expressed complete confidence in a quick and positive outcome. In the end, it appears their true interest was in our cash and not our fair settlement of the estate. Ms. Palmer stated to us that our situation was a simple estate closure, and that the estimated costs would be around $3k, unless things got challenging, then it might go as high as $6k. By the end, WPD had ground through well over $60,000! The bill was so staggering it affected our life including college selection for our children. WPD used a variety of means to rack up the bills; running wasteful audits, utilizing an outsourced lawyer, delayed and erroneous bills, using multiple lawyers in court, repetitive meetings to review status… It just never stopped. I frequently asked them to stop spending money, and to eliminate the outsourced lawyer, and all my requests were ignored until it was too late. Millie’s response was surprising, “you should have fired us”. Even the judge on the case was so disgusted with WPD representation that he threatened to jail one a WPD attorney for their conduct. Millie told me to ignore the escalating bills as they were being inflated to assist with the final settlement and that it would be discounted off in the end. As I was cornered into taking a settlement that had errors, and one I wanted dismissed, WPD demanded I sign over the entire final settlement cash, telling me that the court would never approve it any other way. WPD took everything they wanted without my approval, returning the scraps to me. The WPD $60,000+ bill does not even cover all of the losses I took on the estate, which substantially increased during the excessive time it took WPD to bring the estate to closer. WPD refused to agree to a settlement, and kept what they wanted, well over $60,000! Without recourse, I have few options but to file a report with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) of the Supreme Court of Illinois, asking them to review the business/legal practices at WPD. In addition I am evaluating options on bringing a lawsuit against WPD for all of the losses. This is a long story of failures, errors and falsehoods, and I have volumes of documents to support my claim. Don’t make the same mistake and trust WPD with your assets. Take your time and find a reputable firm and get everything in writing as the case progresses. If WPD doesn’t have a company motto, I can recommend one; WPD, where you get nothing for something.

As a non-immigrant worker, I am thrilled to have my misdemeanor charge reduced to a speeding violation and offered court supervision without conviction. Don is nice to talk to and treats people well. He looks to be easy going and this calms your nerves.

I had a previous atty I was upset about via her job performance, lack of support, lack of personal touch (I dealt with her office) not her. For 6 months of anguish and anxiety going to court nothing happened. I found Don through his good reviews since 2 good friends kept telling me that my prev atty was no good & to find another one. She withdrew fr my case unprofessionally by letter not even a phone call right before my trial date. I was devastated. Im unemployed and was yet billed 1500 plus another 850 which Ive asked for her to bill other party hopefully. She wanted another 2500K when I couldnt provide that I guess this is what happened but still. So I called Don right away knowing he was good for it having a consultation with him prior (He prev suggested things that we could do to support my case etc, was supportive, understood). He got on a phone call directly with me both times plus directly responds to email right away. Got me into his office that day & with no money, only credit left that my brother was helping me with. He worked out a payment plan option that worked for me plus trying to get an order pushed thru for other party to pay considering my unemployment. I immediately hired him after he said told me what my 2 options were which I took him up on the Emergency Relocation Motion. Next day papers were ready, I went in to sign. A few days later we were in court in front of a judge already. Im still pending court decision but at least something is way happening on Don's behalf vs my other atty I wasted money on who did nothing for me in 6 months nor supported my case. I really recommend Don, He's quick, supportive & gets to work with you right away. Very professional and hands on. Im very happy thus far even though my court decision is yet pending my trial date. I wish I had gone to him sooner, I probably wouldn't still be sitting here majorly stressing out on taking a job offer out of state and trying to get to family since I have none left here. I feel like my future has been on pause trying to provide for them. Don is my only answer and way out thus far. Its horrible to feel like your made a prisoner of the state trying to make a better life or future for your family trying to move out of state. If you need a good caring atty Don is the way to go. Thanks.

With no prior traffic offenses I had no idea what to expect when entering the court systems. Internet education made me anxious and advised that an attorney was necessary. With so many attorneys to choose from and no direct referral I took a chance and chose Donald Cosley. The result was very good.
