I was in a pretty serious semi-truck accident that resulted in a significant surgery with long term implications. Since my incident involved workers compensation with a company outside my state of residence I was forced to rely on phone interviews to determine my situation and decide who I wanted to handle my case. He was very grounded in his assessment of my situation and didn't paint any unrealistic expectations, just simply laid out the facts, and that alone was reassuring. Reed has been an unbelievable lawyer for me. I had a challenging workman’s comp. claim that would have been a disaster without him leading the charge. Through his sage advice and knowledge of the law I felt more than confident working with him. He answered every question I ever had and was always available. Some lawyers seem always “busy” but not Mr. Nelson. I always got a response right away, which is always comforting when you’re relying on someone. I cannot say enough great things about the entire team at Nelson and Nelson. All my dealings with Mr. Bob Nelson were positive and informative. He is a good man, who I truly respect. He, Lynn and Annette would always keep in touch and answer my questions. I was impressed that Mr. Nelson always stressed to tell the truth, whether it was with my doctor, the opposing insurance doctor, or during the hearing. He said the truth is on our side. He really cared about my physical well being so that I could get back to a better quality of life. It was not just about compensation. While opening a locker room door in the fall of 2017 a student on the other side of the door decided to take a running jump and blasted the door open. This sent shockwaves through my shoulder and made the pain in my shoulder unbearable with certain movements. . All I wanted was the school's insurance to take care of my medical bills. I went to an orthopedic doctor and after several months of physical therapy and several injections I was still in a lot of pain. I was becoming frustrated that I was getting no relief. I was worried the insurance was going to shut me down. I decided to contact the NEA regional office, and they recommended Nelson and Nelson. I had never been to a lawyer before so I didn't know what to expect. Going to Nelson and Nelson was the best move I ever made. Bob was very concerned about my shoulder and getting it better before anything else. He told me about the best orthopedic doctors in the region and I then had my doctor refer me to a great orthopedic shoulder man. I finally got some temporary relief, but after several more months of PT and still having overall pain and stiffness, my doctor recommended surgery . The workers comp insurance sent me to their doctor who agreed that I needed surgery, but claimed the incident at school didn't contribute to the problem in my shoulder. They immediately stopped covering my expenses, I was so glad at that point that I had Mr. Nelson and his team on my side. He immediately jumped into action on my behalf. I went ahead with the surgery on my dime. Overall the surgery was successful even though the shoulder may never be the same as it was before the incident. Covid delayed the hearing schedule for months if not years. We finally had our hearing this past June, and we won the case. Just a few days before the deadline to finalize everything the opposing insurance company filed an appeal. I was pretty down about it, but Mr. Nelson said we needed to stay positive even though I'm sure he was frustrated with the other side, in what should have been a simple case. Good News. Mr. Nelson called the other day and said after conversations, the opposing insurance has given up the appeal and we have won. The Nelson and Nelson team stuck by my side for what seemed like an eternity . The law firm had to spend a lot of time and effort, way more than they should have for a clear workers comp case. Kindness, compassion, Integrity and honesty are just some of the words that come to mind when you deal with the Nelson and Nelson team.
