I've never been fired by a lawyer before until Mike Stivers. He didn't thoroughly read my home purchase contract before he had me sign it. The dates were wrong. Most of the home repair contingencies that we discussed were not listed and thost that were, were not specific with the quality of repair that was expected. He told me that home real estate transactions were standard and that he didn't really get involved unless there was a problem with the closing. I thought he ought to get involved before I signed the contract to prevent the problems at closing. After signing the contracts but before closing, we now find out that the sellers are fighting with each other over who really has interest in the home. He refused to draw up papers that the all the sellers would sign relinquishing any interest in the home after selling the home to me. If they must fight with each other, they can fight over the money I agreed to pay for the property. My house should be free and clear. Mike refused to draw up the papers and said that any seller wasn't likely to sign such a document. When I presented my reasons for insisting, he refused again, and told me I would be better off with another lawyer. I agree.
