I have been dealing with Many Lawyers recently due to my severe head Trauma exposed skull and 3rd degree burns, work related injury. The People at Kanoski and Bresney, are not Just great Laywers But amazing and Wonderful People as well. My Attorney, Elizebeth Reynolds with Kanoski and Bresney , Is Fearless and Her work Ethic is second to none, She accepted my very unappealing complex case with out hesitation , The other big name hot shots were to lazy to work the file and others just didnt have the courage or the work Ethic. After 1 year and 2 previous attorneys , my claim that had been in stand still for 11 months is finally moving forward in full force very very quickly Thanks to Elizabeth Reynolds. She has been delivering positive news almost weekly every since she took my Casem, as well as much needed long overdue back pay payments due Immediately. I just donot know where I would be or how this would end, if it wasnt for Elizabeth at Kanoski and Bresney. Thank You Elizabeth and your Brilliant hard working team. Also all the other Lawyers I have inquired with and it is many , say Todd Bresney is a super great and cool guy , some of them even went to law school with him. Love you all At Kanoski and Bresney you are the Real Deal!!!! , Thank You so Much!! Ron A. Ring

Attorney Roby Javoronok and his Paralegal, Tim Cook handle every issue I had perfectly. I could not be more please with their assistance in my time of need. I've personally spread the word about this company and these two to many friends by word of mouth as the best to go in the event of a situation such as mine. Give these two a raise, bonus, free meal something for their hard work. Thank you for everything!

My husband and I used Katy Kraft to help us with negotiations with his ex wife. Katy gave perfect advice and legal guidance. Katy was able to quickly understand the delicacy and painfulness of our situations. Thanks Katy. We would highly recommend Katy to everyone.

We, an animal welfare non profit, found ourselves dealing with a spiteful, dishonest, extremely difficult previous board member to the point of needing legal advise. Kyle knew we were dealing with money constraints, as we are 100% volunteer and donation and our supporters work hard for their money and we appreciate every penny. We also did NOT want our issues to have to go as far as needing legal advice, much less legal actions, but that was out of our hands, unfortunately, when someone decided she owned a non profit and didn't have to answer to anyone for her improprieties. We reluctantly voted to consult an attorney and Kyle's was the first we were introduced to. We didn't ask, nor receive, pro bono work, but we did have to put a cap and he worked smartly and thoroughly to keep us within those limitations. He listened, understood and was always very easy to deal with and talk to. We felt at ease and confident in him from the first meeting and that hasn't changed. We did have to take actual legal action, it didn't end at a consult, and that led to a hearing. The outcome of that meeting worked in our favor, thanks to his commitment and persuasion. Even though we were a VERY small case for him, in terms of monetary conclusion, he never treated us any less than with the right mix of respect to feel important and friendliness to feel at ease. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and appreciate all he's done, is doing, and will do for our small, but feisty group!

I was referred to Mr. Korkus's firm by my insurance agent for help on a traffic matter, a serious matter that could have had a lasting impact. After meeting with me and listening to my situation, he agreed to take on my case and I am so thankful that he did! He confidently walked me through the legal process and patiently answered my many, many questions. I know for certain that my outcome would not have had such a positive ending had I not hired Mr. Korkus. Should I need legal assistance in the future, I will absolutely seek his counsel again, and will refer any friend to him as well.

I consulted with Kyle about an IT matter that had the potential to impact my business greatly. From the second I contacted him he got back to me right away and we solved the matter within a couple of hours. To help get that type of stress out of my head so I could go on thinking about my day to day stuff with a clear mind was very valuable!

I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to recommend Alyson Kupari to anyone looking for a thoroughly professional and hard-working attorney. She both knows the law, and has a friendly and engaging way with people. Furthermore, my situation was one which was not directly in her primary legal specialties of estate law and military law, yet she has handled it wonderfully.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bloomington, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
