Anonymous related to privacy and safety in my case. I am deeply disappointed with the services provided by Brian King. Unfortunately, my experience was characterized by a lack of professionalism, communication, and poor conduct. I regret to say that my experience with Brian King was not positive. It became apparent that there was more concern for financial gain than for genuinely assisting me as a client. This is supported by several instances throughout our interactions, which clearly prioritized profit over my best interests. Throughout my case, Brian King failed to advocate for my best interests. There was an apparent disregard for providing full disclosure, leaving me uninformed and vulnerable. Brian King repeatedly disregarded key evidence and failed to present it to the court, which negatively impacted the support of my case and my best interests. Brian King’s refusal to file motions and he disregarded the evidence for my best interest that has caused permanent long-term harm. Furthermore, I was shocked to discover that sensitive information was shared with the opposing party, compromising my position significantly and permanently impacting my life. As his client due to the absence of transparency, effective communication, and proper advocacy, I have been left facing permanent and significant negative consequences. I expected a more thoughtful approach that would have considered the potential consequences more carefully. Even more concerning was the financial manipulation I endured. Brian King manipulated my emotions and exploited my trust, consistently delaying the case for additional payments without providing corresponding value or results. This behavior was seemingly unethical and unprofessional, leaving me feeling victimized by the person who was supposed to represent me. The consequences of this poor representation continue to affect me. I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Brian King to anyone seeking legal representation. My experience has left me questioning the integrity of his practice and the sincerity of his commitment to their clients. I strongly advise others to seek alternative legal counsel who will prioritize their client’s best interests and adhere to the higher ethical standards expected of the legal profession.

've known Cari since childhood, but it wasn't until a few years ago that we crossed paths professionally. Cari represented me to address some complicated family matters. She made me feel heard and provided clear explanations of what was going on in a way that a non-lawyer could understand. While I already knew her to be down-to-earth and hard-working, the time I spent as her client deepened my appreciation for Cari's strategic abilities. She really goes the extra mile to achieve long-term goals instead of settling for short-term gains. It's kind of like watching an expert chess player, but in a courtroom. If I had to do it all over again, I would 100% stick with Cari by my side. She fought for me and guided me through a difficult time with compassion. I was proud to have a lawyer who values fairness and genuinely cares about people. If you need legal help, I highly recommend Cari and the Rincker Law team.

Cari Rincker and her team helped us set up our Wills to be sure our son would be taken care of if anything happened to us. Cari made us feel comfortable with the process and was very knowledgeable with what needed to be included to be sure our wishes would be carried out. We highly recommend Rincker Law.

In 2018, my wife and I decided to divorce. Since it was a mutual decision, we wanted it resolved amicably for the best interest of our kids. Though we anticipated a straightforward process, we needed help with preparation, court scheduling, and legal guidance to ensure everything proceeded quickly, smoothly, and legally. From the outset, Cari and her team excelled. Cari took the time to understand our needs and wishes, meticulously covering every aspect of shared property. She explained our options, and the process while answering all our questions. After scheduling the court date, she prepared the necessary documents and readied us for the judge's questions. Throughout, we felt Cari always had our best interests in mind, never prolonging the process or complicating it for her benefit. She streamlined the procedure and guided us at every step. We deeply appreciate her expertise, guidance, and empathy, and are forever grateful to Cari for helping us navigate this challenging time as seamlessly as possible.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Champaign, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
