In 2019, I was charged with two class X felonies. With great perseverance and resilience, Mr. Kuchinski was able to reduce my case to a court supervision misdemeanor, with no convictions entered on my record. Less than a year left until court supervision expires, and the case gets dismissed altogether from the record; I’ll even be able to expunge the arrest. Mr. Kuchinski maintained a professional composure in the courts throughout the nearly yearlong battle (during the pandemic). He commanded respect in the courtroom and maintained superb communication with the prosecutor; unbelievably professional throughout the whole time - I don’t believe he ever even slipped once. He was straightforward and honest throughout the process and about the alternative options that were available to me. He was not afraid to straighten me out if I was being inappropriate. After long deliberation, I decided not to accept the prosecutor’s initial plea deal. At first, Mr. Kuchinski was more risk averse and initially advised to accept the plea deal. But after more long conversations with him, Mr. Kuchinski then supported my decision to reject it, made me feel confident about the decision, and we began preparing to go to trial. Never did I feel rushed or pressured to accept or reject a deal. Mr. Kuchinski was very patient and understanding of the gravity of the decision to be made, and allowed me to be indecisive at first, as I went through a process of internal discovery and “soul searching” for the right course of action, given the potential risks at hand of going to trial. Fortunately, about three weeks later, the prosecutors offered me a more favorable plea deal. And then Mr. Kuchinski was able to sweeten the deal even more to a court supervision. After this experience, I understood how difficult the job of a criminal attorney is, not too far off from a surgeon, and Mr. Kuchinski proved to be a talented attorney indeed. This experience taught me a great deal, so far the most life altering experience I’ve had, and truly words can’t describe how thankful and blessed I am that Mr. Kuchinski was the lawyer I picked to go with.
