8/26/14 Things you don't want to hear your lawyer say after paying the firm $6500 (and receiving another bill for a couple of more thousand) over 10 months: "I don't know your case well" (said by Lucy after setting a trial date - with my friend standing next to me). The firm is liberal with billing and has not returned my phone calls in over 1 month. Very poor communication between the staff as well. Overall, a very frustrating experience. Lucy is very personable and seems to be assertive in the court room. My case (simple child support case) still never went anywhere while they were representing me. 6/26/14: Update: I am continuing to have problems. In January the law firm issued a subpeona for pay stubs for the party I am trying to obtain child support from. Then a few months later the law firm told me that comp time was not included in the info they were given and after calling to talk with the employer they were told they needed to issue another subpeona to a different branch (state employee working for IDOT). After agreeing to pay for the 2nd subpeona and receiving the info I looked everything over and the subpeona and the info received (paystubs) were identical. Both sets contained the comp time info. When I called to talk with John regarding this I was not given a straight answer but told he hadn't looked over the paperwork received but would. I have been trying to get a hold of him (because I didn't hear back from him regarding this next bill). Since leaving multiple messages on voice mail and with staff I still have not heard back regarding my questions. Regarding my case, I am consistently told that opposing counsel doesn't return phone calls and that is why the case is dragging on. I have been trying for more than 3 weeks to get a response from my legal counsel and cannot. As a result, my case will still not have made progress and will be dragged out. Where is justice? 4/16/14 Update: I was able to work with John Martoccio on adjusting my bill in order to compensate for any billing errors. John is a very reasonable gentleman. He also offered a reduced hourly rate in order to provide good customer satisfaction. He truly cares for his business/reputation. In regards to any communication problems - he has agreed to communicate directly with me and give my case the attention that it deserves. Why only 3 stars you might ask.... I have court next week and the law firm is working on a few items regarding the case. I will update my post and adjust my rating as the case progresses and as warranted. 3/31/14 Short version: they are not good at communicating but are very liberal with their billing practices. I have had several billing issues. They have even billed me to make adjustments to my bill (errors that they have made). My most recent bill includes THREE charges at $90 each for them to review my bill. Also, the attorney didn't show up to court on time (she was filling paperwork) but still charged me $350 (for one hour of service when the actual time was 20 minutes). In addition to that charge, the attorney that did show up was not my regular attorney so I was also charged $30 for my regular attorney to inform the other attorney of when my court time was. My emails to them are read by 2 people and them I am billed for each of them to read my emails. They do not reply to my emails. They bill me to read them and then wait to respond. Because my court date was approaching I emailed them again (billed again but no reply). After my 3rd email (the late afternoon the day before court) I receive a short email reply. Yet, when reviewing my bill, they charged me $150 on one occasion (for 2 people to read my email and not reply), $120 the next day for 2 people to read an email.... I called the office 2 weeks ago and never received a call back.

They called me, and they told me that someone will call me back, and they never did!!!
