I hired this lawyer twice because l need a lawyer quickly and he was close by. At the beginning very charming personality that talk as if he can be the tough lawyer you imagine only to find out he is not a seriou lawyer for serious case. He is a lawyer that should not be in private practice that should be working in places where they just required lawyer signature and noting more. The first time l hired him l filed for divorce but l thought it will not be contested.. He has opportunities to close the case since my ex did not show any representation instead he decided to prolong the case. It was closed temporarily by him l guess to make money later when the case was reopened bu my ex a year later. These are the reasons why looking back he was a mistake: 1. He will never show up to court on time so you can not plan your time with 2. He will not update you on your case unless you asked. There was a time the opposing counsel subpoena my work he did not tell me until HR call me 3. He spent time talking to my ex on why she should negotiate and charging me for it insteadbof representing my interest. 4. He us a master of delay. His tactic is delay delay but he will charge you full service for the delay you never agree to. I guess is either laziness or tactic to get more money from you. 5. He is afraid of known and serious attorneys. He once told me your ex attorney is tough as if that is consolation to me. 6. He is imcompetence. He once told me to go and think and get back to him what tactic we should. Is that not the job he got pay for. 7. He is not organized. When you go to his office he will be asking you question of what is the last discussion on your case. Younwill sent him a document he will be asking you again for it. 8. He is never prepared. It is on the day he is going to court, he will to tell you what he is going to do which is postponed. My conclusion about him if you have uncontested divorce or very simple case where you just need a lawyer to prepare document or signature you can go to him and if don't care when it done. For serious case or case where time is of essence please stay away from him.

I had a tough time getting through my issues, after a consultation I was very pleased with Mr. Devaney. He had a refreshingly straightforward approach that really helped get the case done in a quick and fair manner.

Ineffective, lazy and incompetent lawyer. He does not follow through or do what he says. Dishonest and not knowledgeable. Better suited for used car sales than legal representation. Do not hire!

I don't know where to start. There is so much neglect here that I have no choice but to report him to the Illinois Bar Association, ARDC, and I've spent nearly a month preparing documents for an online company that exposes bad attorneys nationwide. We hired Ken in early Dec 2021 to help our son. His Ex girlfriend was alienating the child despite there being a temporary court order for my son to have visitation. There was no cause to keep the child from him. On the contrary, my son had a great relationship with his 2 year old. She got a new boyfriend and decided to stop letting him see the child. This should have been a simple case of contempt and then we move on. Not at all. It took nearly a year, Oct 2022, for my son to get time that is slowly increasing as the child gets re adjusted. Almost a year and he never addressed our Petition for Rule, the one thing that we hired him to do. Tons of judges chamber meetings where he would come out and have another reason why they can't have a trial that was supposed to happen in April 2022. Almost December, no trial. Instead he sends over an order from a court date that my son had no knowledge with directives on specific visitation dates that my son had no opportunity to address. I have addressed him several times regarding not advising my son of court dates, not returning calls, texts, and emails. At one point he told me he was not going to charge my son, assuming because he dropped the ball so many times, yet he still sent him a bill. I will post the results of these investigations once they become available because attorneys charging 5x minimum wage should provide services that justify the value of services equal to the cost. Ken is soft, he's negligent in his professional duties to his clients, and I do not recommend.

I have been divorced twice, I wish I had hired Mr. Devaney the first time!!! It is a please to speak with him and his office is outstanding. I love the location in downtown Lake Bluff, he was simply the nicest and most practical lawyer I have ever met, he even bought lunch one time for us during a meeting. I will strongly recommend him to anyone looking for a great lawyer.

Ken is someone who will go to any limits to help you and your needs. He was fantastic in recent cases that I hired him for. I highly recommend Ken because he is someone who will have your back through the whole process.

I was very pleased with Mr. Devaney. He is definitely an excellent family attorney! He listened to what I had to say, took full interest into my case. My calls were always returned in a reasonable amount of time, my questions were always answered. He is knowledgable about the law and extremely comfortable in the courtroom. He knows what he is doing and always came back with results. I would absolutely use him again and definitely recommend him to my family and friends.
