After being hurt at work, i had medical expenses and had to take a large time off of work. They helped me get a very good settlement for what had happened. They always were so kind and respectful toward me. They always answered my questions along the way. i recommend them to everyone!

John handled a slip and fall case for me. I fell at my apartment building and the landlord was not doing anything about it. I'm lucky I found John because he filed a lawsuit and did a really good job working the case. He had an expert visit the scene and do an inspection and take photos. The expert was really good and found code violations. We ended up settling the case for a lot of money and I'm very happy with John as my attorney.

Nicole is absolutely amazing!! She knows what she is doing and has the experience to back it up. She was a fierce and confident ally in my post-divorce case and was able to explain the system so clearly. It helped relieve a lot of my stress and increased my confidence in the pending outcome. She is extremely organized and a clear communicator who is not intimidated by bully ex-spouses and their legal representation. I am so grateful for her advocacy in my case and absolutely, highly recommend her.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the incredible legal representation I received from Ronald Bell. He is an absolute rockstar in the world of family law and asset division. My case involved the most delicate matters - children and assets. It was a very challenging and emotional journey, but thanks to Ronald Bell’s expertise and dedication, it ended more favorably than I could have ever hoped for. From the moment I walked into his office, I felt a sense of assurance and professionalism that immediately put me at ease. Ronald Bell took the time to listen to every detail of my situation and clearly guided me on the best course of action. Throughout the entire process, Ronald Bell demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge and experience in family law. He left no stone unturned in preparing and executing my case, always ensuring that I was well-informed and comfortable every step of the way. What truly sets Ronald Bell apart is his unwavering commitment to his clients. He was not just my lawyer; he became my advocate and a true source of support during what was without a doubt one of the most difficult and challenging times I have faced. His dedication to my case was evident in his tireless work ethic, attention to detail, and effective communication. Not to mention, he really does care!! A LOT!!! When it came to negotiations and courtroom proceedings, Ronald Bell was a force to be reckoned with. His confidence and poise in the courtroom were remarkable, and it was evident that he had earned the respect of his peers (and everyone else in the courtroom). Ultimately, the outcome of my case greatly exceeded my expectations, and it was all thanks to Ronald Bell. He fought tirelessly to protect my interests and secure the best possible future for my children and me. I wholeheartedly recommend Ronald Bell to anyone facing family law issues. These situations are tough, and you need the very best by your side. He is not just an attorney, but a compassionate advocate, a legal genius, and a true champion for his clients. If you want the best possible outcome for your case, Ronald Bell is the lawyer you need. Thank you, Ron, for everything you've done for me and my family. You are a true legal superstar, and I am forever grateful.

Mr Bell is the best lawyer on here hands down. I had two of the other lawyers on here and I fired each of them. Then I went to Mr Bell. He answers your calls and emails very quickly, even on the weekends. He knows how to win. I only wish I went to Mr Bell first. Don’t waste your time or money with these other lawyers,

Divorce is painful and emotional and if you're like me, you don't know much about the process and don't really have the headspace to learn all about it while it is happening to you...Ron's parting words at my first consult with him were, "The best thing you can do is pretend like you are asleep for the next 6-12 months and let me handle things." Those words were so true. I didn't always want to listen to them, but being 5 months post divorce and still dealing with some issues with opposing parties not living up to the terms of the MSA, Ron is still in my corner. I don't think I realized how good he and his team are until recently. Discussing my agreement with divorcees has shown me that Ron helped me reach a fair deal that allows me to move on in life with confidence and financial stability and do the right thing for my children and he kept emotion out of it which is so important in negotiation for separating assets and in my case a lot of liabilities. I would absolutely recommend Mr. Bell and his team to anyone in need of advice and guidance and council during the process of divorce. Thank you Ron and team for working with me!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Libertyville, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
