Kristie Cary Fingerhut has been my lawyer since 2016. She is ethical, professional, educated and well-versed in her field, empathetic, personable, and trustworthy. She has been a lifeboat of calm and safety in the storm of family court. Kristie is always 100% prepared for court appearances and is thorough and prompt in relaying information to me. She responds to my communication in a timely manner. She is a shining example of what a family law attorney should be. I could not have found a better lawyer and am forever indebted to Kristie for the exemplary work she has put into my case.

Kristie Fingerhut does a somewhat ok job of sucking you in & making you believe that she’s going to help you out & get most things that you want in your divorce pertaining to child custody, support, finances, etc etc. but then she switches up on you. It was all a front. She begs you for money (even when you have already given her a lot) to do the job she says she’s going to do but doesn’t even end up getting close to doing it. Uses the money to go on vacations right away & calls you to tell you that she can’t assist you because she’s on vacation using the money that you gave her to not do anything. She’s a liar. Says one thing early on in the divorce & then says another thing later on it. Worst of all, she milks you for money. Purposely sends long emails that aren’t really saying much of anything to make it seem like she’s sending you something important just to tell you that that email cost $200 of her time. & finally, she can’t handle the truth!!! I spent my last ever phone call with her telling her that I felt as though she wasn’t doing anything for me this whole time in the divorce (letting my ex husband get his way somehow every time) & she completely breaks down. Telling me that I “yelled at her.” I had been cool, calm & collected about everything that she thought that she was doing until I wasn’t but when I had let her know of that, then I’m at fault?! No way! This woman here… She probably didn’t even go to law school. She just used her rich daddy’s money to pay her way through it because she acts like she doesn’t know what the hell she’s doing!!!

In 2014, I drove from New York to visit Chicago, for my sons Navy recruit graduation. Well, to make a long story short, I got into a small vehicle accident in which I received from the police 3 moving violation tickets. Anyhow, the tickets required me to come back to Chicago for a court date. This would inconvenience me, in many ways. So, I found Linsay B. Coleman's name from a long list of attorneys and decided to give her a call. She honestly delivered what she promised. All 3 tickets were cleared and my record was restored. Thank you Linsay B. Coleman ,for your help.

I give 5 stars to Attorney Douglas Rallo. From my heart, I can honestly say that attorney Douglas Rallo fought really hard for me when I had a severe neck injury at work. He was always there when I needed him -- answering my questions, explaining the law and legal process for me, he got me an excellent financial settlement on my case. My injury was very stressful, and Doug Rallo went above and beyond to support me emotionally as I struggled with my injury.

I had the pleasure of meeting Douglas Rallo when I suffered a serious car accident. I had talked to two other lawyers who were ambulance chasers about my accident, but neither one struck me as someone I could trust. Then I was referred to Douglas from another friend who told me you won't go wrong hiring Douglas Rallo. If you need a diligent personal injury lawyer who will not back down and is ethical and upright, then you should talk to Douglas Rallo about your case. It goes without saying that Douglas Rallo is an upstanding, approachable and well respected Lawyer in Libertyville, IL He is not your ordinary lawyer looking to make money, but he is genuine, honest and will always give you his legal perspective on your case. When I met him he listened to me, asked me straight forward questions with only good intentions for my case. When I hired Douglas, I found Douglas to be on my side all of the time. He doesn't miss a beat and is well organized and confident. The office staff is excellent and courteous. Douglas fought for me and never stopped fighting for my complicated case until he rightfully won, which is exactly what Douglas said he could do. Insurance companies will not fight for you and I will tell you for sure local insurance companies don't want to hear from Douglas Rallo. I encourage anyone with a personal injury case, no matter how small or how large, to call Douglas Rallo. You will not be disappointed. This review was written by me, his very greatful client, and I was not paid or persuaded in anyway to write a review for Douglas Rallo.

We've retained Michael Goldberg for estate planning and a property tax appeal, and have had a great experience working with him and his team. Michael is responsive, communicates clearly (dumbs things down for us), and has always done things in the most professional manner. He is someone we'll return to for future needs.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Libertyville, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
