Mark Schneid of Law Offices of Mathys and Schneid is an outstanding lawyer! I had the pleasure of hiring Mark to represent me in my case. I hired Mark right before my statute of limitations was set to expire on my motor vehicle accident as I had hired another firm to represent me in the beginning, that law firm did not work out well for me forcing me to discharge them at the last minute leaving me scrambling to find a law firm to represent me. I’m extremely grateful Mark came highly recommended by a friend of mine, after my initial consultation and discussing my case with him, I knew at that moment Mark was the lawyer I wanted and needed to represent me. Mark and his team got right to work and was able to file suit before my statute of limitations was set to expire. I was involved in a life altering motor vehicle accident several years ago leaving me with a torn rotator cuff, spinal cord injury, the onset of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, PTSD, and anxiety related issues. I can honestly say Mark brings a compassionate approach in dealing with his clients, he truly cares and it shows! Mark was always there to answer any questions in a timely manner, he and his team kept me informed on the status of my case, and Mark always wanted to make sure I was doing alright. I witnessed Mark’s experience in the litigation and negotiation process first hand with the defendants lawyers, Mark was outstanding! He was very aggressive and fought extremely hard to maximize the compensation that I deserved. If you are looking for excellent representation for your litigation needs, please consider Mark and his team and obtain the best and most aggressive representation as I did. I highly recommend Mark Schneid of the Law Offices of Mathys and Schneid.

“I was struck by a car while cycling and severely, almost fatally injured. A team of excellent medical professionals performed complicated and extensive surgical and medical procedures as part of a successful effort to restore my health. In the midst of all of the pain and effort associated with recovery, I had to shop for a personal injury attorney. I was looking for a respected professional to handle my case and ensure that I not only recovered appropriate financial damages to cover my medical costs but also compensation for pain and suffering. Mark Schneid was not the only attorney I talked to, but he was certainly the best. Upon interviewing Mark I knew immediately that he would not only represent me and look out for my best interests, but that he also cared about my recovery and the successful outcome of my case. Mark is a passionate, bright and hardworking professional with excellent knowledge of personal injury law. His vast legal knowledge, trial experience along with medical and insurance industry knowledge quickly and efficiently guided us through the process resulting in significant risk mitigation and a positive case outcome. His easy going style and articulate communications puts everyone at ease and provides him with a clear advantage in negotiations, while his meticulous approach and attention to detail ensures that nothing is overlooked. During the time he represented me, Mark repeatedly proved that he was knowledgeable, experienced, honest, ethical, and committed to my cause. Most importantly, his negotiating skills made a huge difference in our financial settlement. Everyone on the Mathys & Schneid team is a pleasure to work with, especially their paralegal Carrie King. Carrie’s research and investigative expertise was invaluable to our case. Her excellent communication and writing skills ensured that I stayed informed and up to date and her attention to detail guaranteed that nothing was inadvertently missed. Mark and his excellent support team really came through for me. He is just the kind of counsel you want on your side… knowledgeable, personable and tenacious.

As an attorney, there are a few attorneys that I have come to rely on when it comes to referring cases to. Most attorneys, including myself, do not practice in every area of law. But, that doesn't mean we don't want anything but the best for our clients when we cannot help them with a particular matter. I have come to know Mark through a fellow attorney. At the time, I did not know any attorneys to refer my clients who had personal injury cases or were in need of an attorney to handle a medical malpractice case. When I met Mark, I knew he was the right attorney to send these cases to. I was impressed by his knowledge of the law and the practical nuances that come with years of experience. Mark is not only personable, he is also a bulldog in Court. He knows how to get results for his client. He is also highly respected in the legal community. Mark is also one of the finest trial attorneys I have seen in person. He understands how to present a case in way that people can relate to, no matter how complex the issues are. I highly recommend Mark to anyone seeking an attorney for a personal injury case or a medical malpractice. In fact, I only recommend Mark to clients in need of such services because I know the clients will be in great hands. Mark and his office staff are diligent, responsive to client inquiries and absolute magicians in Court.

Mark is an excellent and skilled attorney and demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the law when he helped settle my dog bite lawsuit resulting from a traumatic incident. He explained what was needed of me and how I should handle the situation in a professional manner. Additionally, he made sure I understood the process and answered all my questions so I could make the best possible decision. We worked as a team and this was very much appreciated. I would not hesitate to hire Mark Schneid should I need an attorney to resolve any legal matters.

David assisted me with a traffic matter. His courteous, prompt, and professional manner made it easy. His fees were at the top of the scale I'd be willing to pay, but he gave a discount for upfront payment. Thank you, David. I'll recommend you to anyone who needs your services.

David was great in helping my boyfriend and I close on a house. He is a very patient man and very helpful in understanding that my boyfriend preferred to email/text instead of call. During the closing process, David helped us understand how everything works in layman's terms. He also made sure to check in every now and then to see if the lenders would push through earlier, but again, David was very patient even when we were not. Overall, David Liberty is the guy to go to when you want something done. He does well in explaining everything and will make sure that you are getting what you need/want for a good reason. I thank those who introduced me to David Liberty since he is a genuine man to work with.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Naperville, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
