I'm not sure there's much that is more costly than incompetent legal representation. I feel quite fortunate to have been referred to Juli Gumina of STG Divorce Law to represent me in my divorce, a word I still choke on. She was empathic, logical, likable, and she had a tremendous command of the law. I was happy when she told me no, as it told me I'd found the right line to push to and I trusted her judgement implicitly. I needed someone who wasn't going to get me tangled up in an expensive wrestling match, but was strong enough to snuff out that sort of situation before it happened. I appreciated that she would always give me my options, shortly and succinctly, allowing me to cut right to the best decision. I think our process wasted as little time as is possible. Of course, you as client have to do your part to be clear-eyed as well and not forget your end goals. For me, it was a perfect customer experience. My appreciation to the whole team. If you want a glimpse of STG's philosophy, I'd also encourage the reading of this book, written by one of the STG partners and only released once I was well into the process. My experience with Sean McCumber was excellent in his role as guardian ad litem for my children. My spouse and I met with her mediation and she was the perfect combination of professionalism mixed with empathy and reasonability. She truly wanted my spouse and I to stay out of court and avoid the emotional and financial expense of a trial. I think the fear many people have about hiring an attorney is that the attorney is more interested in billable hours than the well-being of two individuals who are going through the most difficult time of their lives. I worked with Sharon Falen who was beyond amazing & professional. When I had filed for divorce back in December, I had hired a male attorney from a different law firm.
