I have had the pleasure of working with Mary Davis as a colleague in the roles of opposing counsel and in referring clients to her, for over fifteen years. Ms. Davis is one of a rare breed of attorneys in this area of law who truly cares about her clients and their families. Mary has an unparalleled depth of experience and technical expertise, listens carefully to her clients, tailors and adapts her trial and settlement strategies as a case evolves, and while she fights hard for her clients, she is well respected by her colleagues and the Judges she appears before. I have referred a number of clients to her over the years, and every referral has spoken highly of her and her work for them. She is diligent to a fault, is an excellent strategist, and has a strong background in finance, which is a prerequisite for working with high net worth clients. I appreciate and recommend Mary Davis as an effective and compassionate attorney – truly, “an iron fist in a velvet glove" when it comes to her representation of her clients.

Mary Davis Law firm was wonderful to work with. I switched to Mary’s representation after having another law group. The other practice was a complete nightmare to work with in regards to taking my money and not having any progress. The first month with Mary we made so much progress in getting paternity testing accomplished. Dad dragged his feet on the whole process but she was tough as nails, fair, and did not let the opposing counsel walk all over us. I found Mary by luck after sharing my bad previous experiences with a close personal friend. The fact that other family law attorneys speak highly of her speaks volumes of her character. Moreover, I could not thank her entire office enough for all the strength and support that they additionally offered me. Going through this is an emotional and empowering journey. I enlisted Mary Davis to represent me in a divorce case. My ex-wife was recalcitrant to negotiate a settlement and this was destined to be a very difficult case. I can't say enough about Mary Davis' and her staff, especially Kam, her paralegal. Kam always got back to me quickly, was incredibly helpful and really helped me understand what was happening with the case. He helped me understand the motions, gave very sound advice on remaining calm and guided me through a very difficult process. His assistance was invaluable and kept me sane throughout the entire case. Her staff was responsive, professional and understanding. On the trial date Mary Davis was everything I could have hoped. The judge seemed to be leaning towards a beneficial settlement for my ex-wife. Then Mary went to work. She was well prepared, professional, passionate and tenacious. The judge went from practically coddling my ex-wife to almost admonishing her. The outcome, honestly, couldn't have been much better for me.

I was a young single mother going through divorce when Mary was referred to me. I was typically in meetings with Mary Davis on Zoom. She regularly conducted those meetings from her couch, without even having brushed her hair. She was very slow to review documentation and difficult to reach.

More special, this empathy is paired with an impressive legal brain, strong negotiation skills, and courtroom litigation skills that often make opposing counsel fumble around like an intern. I've been involved in heartbreaking and complicated, high-touch litigation since my divorce was finalized in 2016. The post-decree issues include gaining reasonable parenting time aligned with kids' wishes, decision-making, and appropriate income-based child support. Mary has successfully started turning things around after years of loss, while providing confidence and comfort with the process. I did not hire Mary by chance. I've interviewed nearly a dozen others in DuPage County over these years and no other "got it" like Mary. I've hired others that left due to the complexity and their own financial risk. Honestly, Mary took my case when others simply would not. She is very reasonable with pricing as well; she is judicious with what she bills me, and her team's hourly rates are nowhere near the extremely high ones that were expected by others that seem to bill 15 minutes for each page of paper printed. Mary Davis was hired for my husband’s divorce, at first we thought wow how lucky. When it came time Mary just wanted to settle everything, even when things were in our favor and going before the judge would’ve been beneficial. Mary would say we needed things such as an expert witness and money was tight, when we gave money for the expert witness she never hired one, and then claimed that money needed to go to her to show up to trial. Mary would call to talk about random things not related to the case then charge us, she would promise discounts on the bill then not apply them. We didn’t receive monthly bills or updates. We were charged for her showing up to court and charged for her speaking to witnesses which were at court so we were double charged. Per our contract if Mary was the one who showed up we would be charged one price but a less price if it was a colleague. Once we received our final bill it was charged all at Mary’s price even though majority of the time we had dealt with her colleagues. Completely over charging us. When brought to her attention “ she claimed it was a mistake” I have requested our documents for another attorney and she blew me off, refusing to release them unless we paid for them. Which most of them I prepared and gave her photos etc. we had multiple witnesses, which were not added to the witness list in time so they were not allowed to testify during our final trial. The whole case was handled poorly. Mary took us to court demanding checks up front , we stupidly agreed and now she continues to screw our account either holding checks for months then depositing multiples at one time, or putting the wrong checks in each month. REVIEW YOUR BILLS REGULARLY. Who knows how many other “mistakes” Mary Davis makes. Since writing my review I have received emails, stating I owe money to her firm which is false, I’ve received emails stating if I take my review down and sign a non disparagement agreement she would forgive my husband’s last payments, but if I don’t then I’ll owe her more even though my slander case was paid. Mary Davis continues to make threats of law suits against me for writing my review, and still continues to hold the checks for her payments. I urge other clients to check your bills check your statement make sure you were charged correctly, and at the correct rate, and check your charges to ensure you weren’t charged for services that were not rendered. I am entitled to write a review speaking my truth.

I absolutely LOVE this woman!! She is the utmost professional at what she does but also has the kindest & sincerest words of wisdom & advice while you are going through this ordeal. Her knowledge, patience, compassion, and willingness to take the time to not only guide but also advise you of the best route to take , make divorce seem to go just a whole lot smoother & easier. Her office staff is AMAZING. I also feel like she DOES NOT take advantage of you financially. I would highly recommend her to anyone that needs an excellent family divorce lawyer!!!

I could never thank Mary enough for the zealous representation she provided me. I have been a Family Law paralegal for over 10 years, so I am well aware of how the system works. Mary fought tireless for me and my daughter and in the end, we prevailed!!! Emotions run so strong during these matters and I can't thank Mary enough for the hundreds of times she was able to calm me down and help me refocus on the big picture, at times I disagreed with her recommendation but she was right!!!
