Beware of this immigration lawyer – she is nothing but a scammer! She took our money months ago and has yet to file our case. There is absolutely no communication – she doesn't answer phone calls or respond to texts. We've sent her hundreds of messages and called her countless times, only to occasionally get a text saying 'Ok, let me get back to you,' but she never does. This is beyond frustrating and completely unprofessional. Save yourself the stress and avoid her at all costs!

Avoid this immigration lawyer at all costs! She took our money months ago and hasn’t filed anything. Zero communication—no calls or texts answered. Totally unprofessional and unreliable. Don't make the mistake of hiring her

This woman is a fraud. Eva was recommended by a family member so I thought I could trust her with my case. She was hired to file paperwork for a waiver back in October 2023. Her fee was $4000 which I agreed to and after paying her half the money she stopped responding to my emails. It was impossible to get anyone to answer a phone or call back. It took countless emails, phone calls and family members contacting her on my behalf, to finally hear back from her six months later, to let me know that the case was reinstated and now finally we can move forward with the waiver. I prepared everything she asked for and sent it to her, but it was clear to me, that she never even opened any of the emails nor she ever reviewed the paperwork. Here we are almost a year later and still nothing was done. I ended up hiring a new lawyer (which now it's gonna cost even more) and now finally things are moving forward. She never contacted me to at least apologize or explaine of what happened with my case. She never offered to return any of the money that I paid for the job she has never done, but maybe she'll find the time to answer to my post on here, csuse it looks like she finds time to do that. She not only took my money and not do the job she was hired to do, but waisted months and cost me a lot of stress. Do yourself a favor and stay away as far as you can from her. Go to someone who is reputable and trustworthy. Shame on you Eve.

I had a great experience with Eve and her paralegal Agneska! They are knowledgeable and have over 20 years experience in immigration matters. They have dealt with many different cases and they can definitely deal with yours!

I was involved in a minor vehicle accident for which my healthcare provider and vehicle insurance should have coordinated coverage with the hospital I was taken to. Because that did not happen, I was receiving bills from the hospital that were far above what my insurance should have covered. After many unsuccessful attempts to straighten this out with my provider, I hired Mr. Stepnowski largely because of his experience with healthcare issues. Mr. Stepnowski took time to help me understand the way the law was being interpreted as it related to my claim, as my provider is located out of state. He then drafted an appeal to my insurance provider that was well researched, which won an approval and my provider adjusted the claim. I am grateful for the level of professionalism and knowledge Mr. Stepnowski imparted throughout the process.

I reached out to Mr. Prossnitz (on a holiday weekend no less) to assist with a brokerage firm that was mishandling funds of mine. I received a phone call the very same day and explained my situation. Mr. Prossnitz delivered on his promise to contact this firm and try to rectify the situation that Monday. Monday came I was CC'd on some emails he had sent to this firm and the situation is being resolved. I'm so happy with the swift response and action that Mr. Prossnitz has taken. I was beginning to feel like I had no options left and i would loose the money I had saved.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Oak Park, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
