Michael D. Ettinger & Associates allocated an angel to my case Oliver Soleiman was my attorney in a recent legal case. Oliver Soleiman vacated an OP case for me within 3 simple hearings. Not only was Oliver an astute professional at handling my case he also offered a great deal of mental and emotional relief throughout the entire process. I've never been in court to defend myself and especially to defend against a tyrannical opposition at that. Anxiety and stress hit a lifetime peak. Michael D. Ettinger and associates allocated an angel to handle my case.

Oliver Soleiman is the most trustworthy, competent lawyer I have ever had the pleasure to work with in my 46 years. He is a kindhearted, sympathetic, Shark (when required)! If you need a lawyer shop around and I guarantee the smart decision is to circle back and hire him. When you know it’s right trust your gut and don’t waste your precious time. Wonderful person in the prime of his career. I can’t say enough good things. My divorce was a nightmare before he took over. My only regret is not hiring him from day one. 10 ⭐️

I contacted Michael’s office because I needed an attorney. We talked and he assigned Oliver Soleiman to my case. Oliver was awesome. We had gone to court twice and both times he was totally on his game. He actually cared about me. I felt like it just was not just a case to him. He was so personable and really worked on my case to get the very best outcome which he did. He really made me feel calm and very positive about everything and reassured me everything would be fine. He walked me through every step and followed up on everything. I honestly cannot say enough great things about Oliver. I highly recommend him! He is going to go far with his law career!

Oliver Soileman, an Attorney that is quick on his feet and provides services with INTEGRITY (Which is something that is rare these days with Lawyers) was able to correct the flaws that happened in my cases due to bad representation in the past. He is a "Tell me the Time, Don't Build me the Clock" type of Attorney. You will not be disappointed.

I have had nothing but issues with this attorney so I decided to check the google reviews and it appears there is a pattern with his lack of response and billing issues. DO NOT HIRE this attorney - BEWARE - He will take your retainer and then it will be impossible to reach Mr. Marshall. He will not respond to emails or any communication with your file after he has taken the retainer. When you terminate his services for lack of response, after months and months of trying to get the retainer returned he will provide an invoice that does not match the hourly rate agreed upon, and create charges for services that were never performed. STAY FAR AWAY FROM HIM AND ANY SERVICES HE OFFERS

I have known the Hillstroms for decades. I have never met a more morally conscious and professional group of practicing attorneys. I would not hesitate for a minute to place my legal confidence in Scott and Bruce Hillstrom.

My husband and I bought our first home with Omar’s help and two years later we sold our home with Omar’s help! He is knowledgeable, efficient and easy to work with. His due diligence and responsiveness are critical in his line of work and Omar exemplified both skills very well. We would recommend Omar to anyone looking for a well informed, experienced professional.

I worked with Jon on a couple properties in 2013, due to the inspections failing, until I found my current home. Jon was very knowledgeable and courteous. Assisting to get me to the closing table as early as we could. Something notable is that Jon always takes the time to explain the full scope of the situation and any potential issues he could see arising. Because of this I have returned to him to handle a family matter. While my family matter is just in the beginning stages I am confident that Jon is looking after my best interests. I would recommend him.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Palos Heights, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
