Pros
1
Excellent legal skills and work ethic
“Mr. Ruston helped me with my slip and fall case against Hardees. He was great to work with and we settled the case at mediation last year. It was a wonderful outcome and I couldn't give more of a glowing recommendation of his legal skill and work ethic.”
2
Highly professional and responsive
“Fadi let us know what concerns and questions we should be asking as he worked behind the scenes on our behalf automatically, and in a timely mannor. His level of professionalism is as good as it gets.”
3
Thorough knowledge and expertise in the field
“I had been putting this off for a long time because I didn't want to deal with my family members but once I started with Mr. Rustom, it all went very smoothly. He just charged us a flat fee even though we had to meet several times and we spoke on the phone a lot. I think he really knows everything there is to know about trusts, there wasn't a question we asked that he couldn't answer.”
4
Excellent courtroom presence and preparation
“I have witnessed him in court cross examining the states witnesses and it is a sight to behold! He does his homework and is always one step above the competition.”
Cons
1
Lack of communication and responsiveness
“We called and sent numerous texts but he rarely replied. The few times we were finally able to contact his office, the paralegal told us several times he was just too busy with other clients.”
2
Mistakes and errors in legal work
“We discovered the legal paperwork had numerous typo spelling errors. Also, one motion where he attached a 'Certificate of Service' was not actually filed with the court case.”
3
Failure to keep clients informed
“He didn't share information from his attendance with Plaintiff and Judge during Case Management Conferences. He didn't share copies of any motions he filed with court until we dismissed him.”

Jeff is the absolute best in the business, my only regret is not hiring him sooner. After going through a couple of lawyers that didn't work out I finally found Jeff Hall and he helped get me on track for drivers license reinstatement. He guided me through the process and charged me a fair price and I am now back on the road. I know that the road can seem arduous and that there's no end in sight. Jeff will help you see the light at the end of the tunnel and get you there!

I have used Jeff and his team 3 different times, all with great success. Most recently, My brother paid Jeff to help him get his license back, unfortunately before that would be able to happen, my brother passed away. Out of the kindness of his own heart, and much to my surprise, Jeff came to my brothers funeral and informed me that he will be transferring my brothers case onto my case (I challenge you to find another lawyer that would even think to do something so kind) and even tho there were many times where I couldn’t seem to get out of my own way, Jeff and his team stuck by me until the very end. I have, and continue to refer him to anyone I know that needs representation. I promise you having Jeff in your corner gives you the greatest chance for success. Thank you Jeff Hall & team, you have greatly affected my life and I will appreciate that for as long as I live.

I have retained the services of Brian Johnson for several business matters over the past 3 years. He has perfomed above my expectations in every matter. Although I know several attorneys throughout Central Illinois, his personal attention and approachability is very refreshing especially in unsettling matters which is normallly the case in legal matters. I also recommend Brian's services to many of my clients for their business needs.

I have referred a number of clients to Brian who needed advice on land purchases and establihing businesses. Every one has thanked me and complimented Brian on his knowledge, professionalism and promptness. I participated in a presentation with Brian on the legal and financial considerations for new business owners. He was extremely well prepared and kept the information simple enough to be understood by the audience.

Candice is a very talented attorney; having answers to all my questions and concerns. She provides much knowledge to the case and provided comfort to me as things did not always go as originally planned, that is to be expected, although the final outcome was positive. There were occasions that Candice tempered the emotions and allowed for a clear mind to be prepared for anything. I would trust Candice and her resources if anyone is seeking a recommendation.

Mr Tinker helped me out a few years ago with a patent and a couple trademarks. easy, no sweat, right? I'm certain many others would have helped me with my "easy, no sweat" filing, but Mr Tinker did more than that. He called me up and explained a concern he had with some language in my filing that he felt didn't protect my interests as well as he felt it should. I was confident that my wording was superior and protected me from any infringements. He very politely explained how my branding had an application in an area that I had not thought of and won me over. As he stated (paraphrasing, of course), "the chances you will end up needing this additional protective language is remote, but it won't even take me ten minutes. So why don't I just do it anyway?" Well now three years later, I’ve expanded my branding and launched into the area he identified and others. Had he not cared enough to critically think about all possibilities, I would be filing expensive updates every year or so. But he took care of me and his original work stands unchanged and undefeated (I had an infringement and I won, no sweat). I came to this site to find him now to help me with another trademark, but have learned that he went in-house for a major international company. Makes sence, he is of that caliber

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Peoria, Illinois?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
