I recently was put in a very stressful situation that required me to seek out assistance from an attorney. The issue taxed my ability to think clearly as I also have a terminal illness. I am giving this practice a one because he is suppose to be a bankruptcy lawyer. He would not help me because my job allows what’s called a “hardship” withdrawal from my 401K that would allow me to withdraw money that would PREVENT me from having to file for bankruptcy. Only way I can do this, is by getting a letter from a bankruptcy lawyer stating that if I did this, I won’t have to file for bankruptcy. He didn’t feel “comfortable” because he would have to provide something stating that if I withdrew this money it would prevent me from filing. This isn’t an unheard of situation, and I don’t quite understand. I wasn’t asking for anything free, or for him to do it free. I assumed there would’ve been a cost. It’s just very disheartening and disappointing because I was excited to work with him considering all the reviews he has gotten. * he wasn’t rude or anything I did want to point that out.
