This place does not deserve even a single star. These people are one step above criminals. I loaned my daughter the money to pay them for a retainer. They took the money in bad faith. They were informed at the very first meeting before the retainer was given that there was a possible conflict of interest. They claimed it was not an issue. They then immediately filed a continuance delaying my daughter's court case. That's fine, they needed time to prepare. But then the next court date came along and they filed another continuance without even informing my daughter they were going to do so. She showed up for court only to find that her case had been continued by her attorney who didn't even bother to show up. Then, when she contacted her attorney she was told that they could not represent her because of the very conflict of interest she had informed them about in the first visit. Now, they will not return her considerable retainer even though they did nothing whatsoever for her but remotely file two separate continuances. They never appeared on her behalf, never drafted any other motions, never defended her against the many trivial complaints her ex's attorney keeps throwing at her. They referred her to two places they had to know weren't going to work and she can't use anyway because they won't give her money back and are now avoiding her calls. They have left my daughter in a worse situation than she was in to begin with. She's getting no help from legal aid and I can't afford to help her again. Congratulations. You've managed to take advantage of and further victimize a domestic violence victim. Do the right thing and give her her money back. You know you didn't earn it.

Attorney Troy Tyson is by far the most professional, relentless, honest and respectful attorney I have ever met. He has been working on a complex case for us and he never ever let's up. He's a gentle, but a fierce attorney that fights for what's right and for his clients best interest. He has extreme confidence, high morale character and intergity and profound faith and intelectual knowledge in his field. He knows the law yall. Your opponents tactics will neither frighten him or make him back off from fighting for you. If you listen to him and follow his lead, you'll set your self up for a win win situation. He has a complete team of professional case managers and other attorneys like Attorney Tamara Drummond who is straight awesme, that are just wonder and polite to work with as well. I would recommend Tyson Law Firm to anyone 100%. Sincerely, Carolyn Battle

Attorney Bradley Gregory agreed to take my case. He assured me I had a easy case and he could win in court. After, many months, he decided I didn’t have a case. I paid him over a thousand dollars. He agreed to refund some of my money. I have not received a penny of my refund. He is still calling just about every day stating the check is in the mail game. It’s been two weeks of his empty promises of returning my money. I would not do business with him if he was the only attorney in the world. I feel he is not trustworthy. I feel he plays mind games. Be aware, of who and what you are hiring, when he decides to take your case and money.

Kimberly provided advice to me and two other family members which resulted in the preparation of several specific legal documents and all were executed smoothly. Kimberly is exceptional at her profession. She listened to our needs and concerns and then assisted us in putting everything into action and then into fruition. We as a family, certainly recommend her as a thorough, diligent and extraordinary attorney.

Tina is very caring and dedicated to helping people save their life's savings and possessions when illness and devastation happens. Her compassion is second to none and she is always professional yet personable in what she does. I admire her commitment and dedication to her clients during some of the most difficult times due to life's unexpected curve balls that tend to knock most of us down for the count. Tina is there to help us back up with a positive and determined attitude.

I have had the benefit of working with Ms. Hall as opposing counsel on a case here in Indianapolis. I found her to be a very zealous advocate for her client's position, and highly professional thruout the process. I would have no hesitation in recommending her services to anyone looking for a family law or bankruptcy attorney in the State of Indiana.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Greenwood, Indiana?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
