I was nervous really bad till Paul Stanko came and took over my case. He reassured me that everything will be fine. After that, I knew I chose the right lawyer for my case. He helped me out to the point where he deserves more than five stars. I was not disappointed at all. I believe that he is the best criminal lawyer, in town of Plymouth.

I was charged with an HTV in Marshall County. Upon my HTV I had crimal charges a couple of months later, which was stressful in itself and embarrassing. I called Paul Stanko to resolve my case. I could have not been more lucky, and put into the best hands imaginable. During a two and half year long process Paul stuck by my side and never judged me or made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. He listened well and was thoughtful with detailed advice. I was impressed with is proactive communication with swift responses and attention to detail. Very satisfactory. My charges were reduced drastically and my consequences were achievable for my crime. I admire his composure, work ethic, and most of all excellent representation to my case. His skills and knowledge to law is extraordinary. I highly recommend Paul Stanko. It was an honor to have him as my attorney. Couldn't be enough gratitude for him. Thank you just doesn't seem enough. Not only did Paul handle my case with finesse, he saved my life in more ways I could of asked for, above and beyond, allowing me a second chance for myself and children's. They have hopes and dreams again as do I. I will forever be grateful to Paul Stanko. If you want your life changed, choose Paul Stanko to handle your case.

Paul has got to be one of the best lawyers I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. It was a long trying ordeal. But I could tell that he trusted me, so that helped me trust him. He always kept things going the right direction. I went from 2 years house arrest, to today charges being dropped. He may do things differently than some, but that's how he keeps the clients cost down. Listen to this man. Trust this man. He takes care of his clients. Great layer. Amazing dude. Thank you Paul. I owe you big time.

Before I retained Paul, I already had an attorney that was rated highly and wasn't cheap. I had a pretty tough case, being accused of domestic battery on my teenage daughter. It was totally false btw. But that first attorney didn't care what I had to say and didn't believe me at all. After a few months and a couple thousand dollars, the best he could do was 2 years house arrest. I had to make the tough choice and take my chances In finding another lawyer. I found Paul's card that day on the way home from court. He called me back the next day and from that first conversation, I knew that God had sent Paul my way. He trusted in me and kept me calm and helped guide me through the long process. I told him I would not plea to something that I did not do. Even after a year and a half, he never gave up on the case. I trusted in him because I felt he trusted in me. Today he contacted me and gave me the best news I've had since my daughter was born. All charges dropped except for one minor thing. Paul has almost literally saved my life. If anyone has any doubts about him, just give him a chance and meet him. He will fight till the end for his clients. I will refer all I can to him. He's a good man. Trust him. I did. And I now have my family back. My life back. God bless you Paul. Thank you.

A family member was experiencing a lot of financial trouble and it seemed all roads led bankruptcy. I asked around about a good attorney to talk to and was told by several people about Ms Bules. She was a true professional. She was able to help my family member see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would highly recommend her for a bankruptcy attorney.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Plymouth, Indiana?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
