The details and difficulties of four different trusts, which came into play upon my mother's death, required many hours of consultation and counseling. At the same time, the emotions surrounding personal loss and bereavement required a delicacy of understanding. I received all that was needed in the sessions with Chris Godfrey, who guided and protected me as I navigated through the many "sticky wickets" of diplomacy -- including relations with a difficult trustee, disagreements with co-beneficiaries, estate planning for a large family, and making a short/long-term budget for life's unknown possibilities that come with old age. He was always patient, wise, practical and understanding; I came away from each session with a clear plan of action for the many necessary choices that were required of me. His steady insistence on honesty, courage and faith helped me to come through meetings with contentious siblings and so avoid the family feuds among those who a required to share an inheritance after the death of a well-to-do relative. He has a quick legal wit and sense of humor that I appreciated, as they tended to dispel my limited and often rather dark misinterpretations of the motives of others. I could not be more grateful for the "whole-life" help and practical tools that were supplied at a challenging time. Peace of mind about the future, and not being worried about my own will, has no price. I would recommend the unique approach to estate planning that was so ably supplied by Christopher Godfrey, a true gentleman and upright legal counselor.
