Five stars! I cannot recommend The Northside Law Firm, and specifically Kathy, enough. She handled my divorce. Kathy is a true professional. Her knowledge of the law is impressive, and she was always responsive and available to answer my questions and address any concerns I had throughout my case. She struck the perfect balance between being kind and understanding with me as her client, while also demonstrating unwavering firmness when dealing with opposing counsel. It was clear that Kathy was a zealous advocate for my best interests.

JESSIE DENNARD BEWARE OF PERSON SHE DELIBERATELY WILL LIE BECAUSE OF HER OWN LAZY PRACTICES. She MADE FAULSE ACCUSATIONS AGAINST ME AND TOLD A ATTORNEY I SAID SEVERAL THINGS I DIS NOT. THIS MONSTER NOT ONCE ASKED ABOHT THE CHIKD OR HIS SAFETY SHE DISNT READ ONE THREAT OUR FAMILY RECIEVED SHE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT LIE AND FABRICATE A STORY TO TRY AND BENEFIT THE OTHER PARTY. PEOPLE LIKE ARE. ERY CONCERNING TO ME AS I CARE ABOUT FUTURE FAMILIES AND CHILDREN UNDER HER WATCH BECAUSE SHE IS LAZY SHE WILL BLAME OTHERS AND LIE TO MAKE HERSELF LOOK INNOCENT WHEN ALL IN ALL EVERY SINGLE WORD OJT OF HER MOuth is a lie. She doesn't care about the child and she clearly has proven that. Multiple threats were made in texts she didn't read or ask for one. The a use the child endures she didn't address at all one time with me. All the proof this moron driving in a car with my son in it at 110 miles per hour on life 360 she didn't do anything about. The little. Oy being locked in a dark room she didn't see to believe when he's terrified to go there. The mother is abused and harrased by this man daily over 1000 threats she didn't even look look at one message she deliberately lied. This man isn't even the child's bio father was awarded rights because he claimed the child called him dad which he doesn't he is forced to. The monster was awarded day facto parenting for absolutely no good legal reason UT in report judge gave it because he called him dad which he makes the child so that's not grounds by the rules in the day facto parenting guidelines. Jessie not once addressed issues the child is having being afraid of this man she o lying is concerned he wasn't in school and it was because this monster threatened the mother to rear end the car with the son in it and cause bodily harm she didn't even address it as abuse. There's hundreds of threats from this man and the mother kept him took him out if school because this man was threatening to take him and keep him from her and not give him back so the mom was scared and wanted to home school her son which is legal and protect him from all the a use he himself claims is being done to him and the system totally failed the small boy and so did jessie. Thislady will deliberately lie on people to benefit herself and her laziness as a worker clearly shows by her actions and the way she fabricates lies about people that aren't true. I ONLY WANT THE COMMUNITY OR PEOPLE INVOLVED WITH JESSIE DENNARD TO BE AWARE OF HOW SHE WORKS AND HOW SHE LIED ON ME AND SHE NOT ONCE DIS ONE THING TO PROTECT THE CHILD SHE she only cared about who she could lie on and try to disgrace with her faulse report she made. In all hope I truly hope to have her removed from the case as I can't allow this behavior from a so called good lawyer or guardian because she is none of the above she is dishonest and a very disturbing individual who I will try my best to have removed from this case and a honest person take control because messie is lazy at her job will say I called and called and it's a a story because she has 24 hours to finish her report because of her own laziness and poor work practice. Beware of jessie dennard as she lied on my fabricated and twisted a story that wasn't true and said I said it when I dis not and in my opinion everyone should be aware of this horrible person who does nothing but lie and make faulse reports that are faulse. So community this isn't right for this jessie dennard to do and it's wrong so please be aware of her as she's very dishonest and very disturbing as a individual to ever deal with children hire someone else she's not worth the gamble I can assure u and I want her fired and removed from out case which Monday I will put in progress. The child had to lie to jessie when he was with the abuser in her room and she was warned it would happen and did nothing because he was afraid he would get beat when he got home so yea she's a real winner

I reflect back on the ugliness my ex-wife threw at me for over 14 years; Kathy was always there with wisdom, compassion, support, and calming nature. She was relentless in the court room, in negotiations, and just awesome to have on my side. From visitations, to financials, to child support she she handled it all and was amazing. I have recommended her services to several family, friends, and acquaintances and all of them could not thank me enough for recommending her. If you are in need of a strong, knowledgeable, and supportive attorney, Kathy Harmon is definitely the one to hire!

Issued a speeding violation in August 2019 on I-465 in Indy. 72/45 work zone/no workers present. State trooper was in traffic and did not use his radar. I disagreed I was driving that fast. I had automatic court date in Carmel, IN since I was over 25 mph above work zone speed limit. Reckless driving. I have a company issued car with very strict rules on moving violations. Had not had a ticket in 10 years. This would be a big deal with my company if not reduced. Secured Katie to help me. She was able to finalize this to a much lower violation and kept me from getting into trouble with my company. Thank you Katie. She can never make any promises up front but she took care of me. I would recommend her for any similar circumstance you encounter. Law firm employees very easy to work with and and above nice whenever I called. Again-- Thank you Katie.

I had one ticket with 2 offenses worth potentially 10 points. In the end, I paid fines but received no points. I never expected that kind of result, although I did feel there were mitigating circumstances. I would never have achieved that result on my own.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Westfield, Indiana?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
