In 2020 my 8lb 13yr old dog Chloe was attracted by a 50lb pit bull. She was rushed to emergency for 20 stitches on her back 2 staples in her shoulder 10 days later stitches came out n 18 staples put back in. Emilie took my case pro. claimed on Chloe only. I haven't had one return phone for for 19 months. Chloe will be 16 in January.. why??? This is rude n a lack of interest. Please tell me why I'm forced to contact my BAR association on a complaint.the owners lawyer up on me. Very unpleasant. No communication. Claim was summit 3 time to home owners insurance no help. This is Chloe claim not mine.its a small amount that started at 17 to 18 thousands. 19 months ago I was told maybe 12 thousands now. Where is there any comparison of her humanity for a animal or human respect??? I'm bringing to BELIEVE it's all a lie on her behalf. Please help me to understand. Any comments or recommendations could be helpful.

From the time we met Natalia we felt Godsend us an Angel! We had a very unusual case in which our previous Attorney did not have the drive to proceed with our termination case. With the Iowa termination law it is extremely difficult to terminate just the mother, but after consulting with Natalia she has the expertise and knowledge to proceed with our case and won our case. So if you are looking for a top notch lawyer who is extremely knowledgeable, personable, attentive and goes above and beyond, Natalia is your person. Natalia was definitely a blessing in our case.

She is a very amazing and intellegent lawyer and she truly fights for her clients i was so pleased with her and i would definetly recommend her to anyone looking for a family lawyer she is the best out there and she truly cares for her clients and she does incredible things helping with advocating for people that have been abused so she knows her stuff and i could not have asked for a better lawyer...it broke my heart when she couldnt take me on for my recent case but she did it out of a kind heart because she couldn't represent me properly with her busy schedule right now and she makes sure she can porperly represent her clients with her full potential she has shown me through our lawyer client relationship that she does care and she will not take you on if she is unable to give you her all.... which makes her one of the best lawyers you can ask for....when she was unable to take me she guided me into the right direction to find a lawyer right for my case and she gave me trusting advice as well.... Jenny is the best lawyer out there

Jenny was great to work with. From the first meeting with her, I felt at ease, which is a great quality to have when going through a stressful time. She was very smart and knowledgeable, and even broke things down into layman terms if need be. Jenny was easy to reach by email and responded very promptly. She was honest when it came to whether or not we should keep proceeding and if it would be worth it, which I really appreciated. Overall the outcome of my case wasn't to the best of my liking, but it was not because of her lack of effort. If I did not have her I would have been much worse off. I would definitely recommend and use her again if I needed to.

I had been arrested and needed help best thing i did got a lawyer... Criminal Defense I Call several lawyers he was the only one that I was put right to on the phone he made time for me that day to see him and reassured me that he could help me with my case. He did not once judge me on what I had done but help me get through the whole thing ( not by how you say hand holding but by dealing with the case ) he kept me inform by mail and if needed phone calls. He made sure I had the best outcome I could get and helped keep me stay grounded when I had to deal with talking to him and the court just saying 1st time going thought this is Humiliating & scary not knowing any of what could or would happen. Best part not once was I judge by what I did or did not do or look down on by anyone that work there.

Scott has amazing knowledge, conviction and most importantly develops a solid strategy on how to win cases. He keeps you informed through the process and isn't out to win just for winning, he strives for a far and just solution. If you are looking to be vindictive this is not your guy. If you're looking for justice Scott is your man. As a male he enabled me to win custody of my daughter, a monumental feat that I thought could never be accomplished at the beginning. Scott took the time to counsel me on what needed to be done to win the case.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Dubuque, Iowa?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
