Everyone here lies. My case has been open for 14 months. Trial was supposed to be next week and I found out this week they kck police didn’t give over all evidence. But the prosecutor had 14 months of conversations with me to realize she didn’t have all evidence. The prosecutor gave a criminal a year of probation for breaking into my home even though I have video evidence. He can’t be held accountable for his actions because he was under the influence. As if being drunk is an excuse for committing a felony. The people who work here do not care about justice.

I need more resources to unlock my files, fabricated reports, we are the people for the people begging for at drop all CIT OFFICERS and let paramedics do medical triage. Judges and the Mayor should order search warrants to hold Doctors accountable of all KVC hospital complaints cases Kansas City, KS. By the way, Congratulations on re-election. That takes a lot of stress off Wyandotte County. Detectives need to turn the Page.

I know for a fact that on February 5, 2018 you knew about the details of my son’s case. Your department knew I filed a complaint with the Office of the Disciplinary Administrator on October 3, 2017. Your department knew about the existence of my secret recordings I made and who he implicates in this cover up. Your department knew that on the night of April 14, 2017 my son’s case was tainted, yet you allowed it to go through the legal system. Help me to understand if evidence is planted or removed isn’t that considered tainted evidence or let’s say it’s been tampered with isn’t that illegal? If a person destroys evidence pertaining to my son’s case isn’t that illegal too? My son was originally charged with two counts but when I refused to let the first attorney plea him guilty while he was incarcerated they tacked on two more charges. Those extra charges were tacked on in his September 13, 2017 scheduled court date in which he wasn’t able to be there to defend himself. Eventually three of those four charges were dropped during his hearing with the judge. My son wanted to fight that forth charge in a court of law but instead he can’t. This is a prime example of abuse of power when it comes to my son’s case and his civil rights. I will not stop until I expose everyone involved in this mess. How can my son have a fair trial in a District Court or a Municipal Court if those in charge of prosecuting cases violate their oath of office? One final question isn’t entrapment against the law?

Jeff Dehon was my first experience working with a lawyer. I was surprised at how approachable he was and how responsive he was to my questions. When calling his office, he answers the phone. He helped me with my divorce with compassion and thoughtfulness. He explained every step along the way and worked swiftly for resolution. During the same time period, we were selling our house and there was a cash settlement issue that needed immediate attention and he stepped up to the plate. If I ever need a lawyer again, I would definitely hire him!

Jeff is one of the best attorneys I have met. He helped us with a very high conflict custody case, that involved multiple states. He is highly ethical and even when the other attorney seemed to do some unethical things, always stood above and followed the law. He was reachable whenever we needed to talk to him. Our case took a year and a half to resolve. Sometimes things take a while to work it's way through the court system. During that entire year and a half he always replied to emails and calls promptly, and often calmed us down when we got worked up about the case. I would recommend Mr. Dehon to anyone looking for a great attorney, that will work hard and is there for his clients.

Mr. Dehon was extremely diligent and supportive during the entire process of divorce. He worked tirelessly to make sure that my interests were protected. I was able to reach him even for emergencies which is a rarity today. My case was very complicated and he made sure that the best possible outcome was reached for myself and my children. He is completely honest and will give you a fair assessment of what the outcome might be so that you are able to make decisions based on fact. I consider myself extremely fortunate that I was able to find him and will forever be thankful that I did.

We live in Olathe and needed a "good" family law lawyer. We hired a local law firm who seemed to have the right stuff. 3/4 of the way through our family court matter, we had to fire our lawyer. We heard about Denise Ramos through a work associate and made the call. We met with her and she made us feel so comfortable. She didn't mince words about the status of our case or the potential for a hopeful outcome, since our previous lawyer mucked things up procedurally from a legal perspective. Regardless, she was tough and aggressive in the court room. She presented case law and rulings that had the opposition attorney's head spinning. Denise is a great advocate for her clients and represents and fights for their well-being -- AND -- she's a really nice woman! We strongly recommend her law firm!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Kansas City, Kansas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
