Major adulting. If you need someone to make prepping for death ‘exhaustive’, (AND more fun) and you’re in the KC area, call Heritage. Bethany was all over it, and our situation was, shall we say, fairly involved. (The Prosecco was a nice touch too. It can take the ‘edge’ off after signing a million documents😉🥂)

I thought you might want to hear about how Kristi Burmeister and Heritage Law helped me through a very troublesome family trust situation. I was a beneficiary dealing with a trustee (a sibling) who was ignoring her fiduciary duties and using trust monies inappropriately. I had discussed the situation with other lawyers who only wanted to open suit, which I felt was a bit drastic. I retained Kristi and she helped me gain a clearer view of the situation and the options available. Kristi made it clear to the trustee that their actions would not be allowed to continue, how they had violated their duties as trustee, and that they would not prevail if a suit was opened. In our case, the trustee was unwilling to change their ways. Kristi made it very clear that she was prepared to quickly and concisely move forward if a settlement could not be achieved. Kristi found a solution that was fair to all parties, and worked diligently to conclude the matter without going to court. During this, Kristi also had to educate me on the realities of the situation, and keep me calm throughout the matter. She had her work cut out for her. The end result; we were able to avoid court, I received my proper portion of my parents’ estate, and the trustee paid for her misbehavior without a court ruling. I appreciate Bethany so much for being completely down to earth. She answers my questions in language I can understand and thinks of situations and questions I would not have thought of while preparing my estate plan with a blended family in a second marriage.
