She promised moon , stars doing intake. Took a month to send the first email. Burnt most of my retainer to get everything opposing legal counsel wanted, through her robotic paralegals. then withdrawn citing health or mother surgery , some such reason. She did zero defense, when there were false accusations. I would rather plead my spouse, to reconcile than working with these hypocrites. Stay away.

She is dishonest as they come. She promises to help the abused yet further continues the abuse by not responding, not doing her job, charging for not doing her job, and talking down to you. They never answer their phone and communicate back with you at their discretion. She is too busy (greedy) to give anyones case her full attention. If you want to throw your money down the drain and have your case ignored, hire Melissa! If you want to have to call them to ask them if they're doing their job and then get charged for that phone call, by all means, call Melissa. I bet, though, if you have a domestic violence case or are trying to keep your kids safe, you are looking for someone who will fight for you. Your kids are worth it. Your money is worth it. She advertises to the demographic of people who do not deserve to be treated like this, because they have already been treated like this and are trying to get away from abuse. There are good attorneys out there. Save your mental health and your money and go elsewhere.

Wow! how and where do I begin about this amazing hidden attorney in kansas? A little background first: I had one of the worst experiences of my life when i got into a situation where i had to seek a dismissal of marriage but due to my old attornery's lack of knowledge and greed, he dragged my 60 or less even day marriage for over a year!! He dragged me on to believe he will get annulment and took a retainer and then never acted professionally. He dragged my case from April 2021 to Feb 2022. An extremely lazy, unprofessional, rude attorney who wouldn't reply back to emails or calls! Blaming opposing counsel for delays and seeking more money was the reason we parted ways! (Will disclose name if Melissa allows else will be writing a detailed review on the attorney very soon) This is where Melissa, my guardian angel comes in. I approached her and from the very start she was extremely nice, loving and someone who listened to my situation and gave me the best counsel i have received on my case. She took my case on 22nd February and by 7 March 2022 I was done. She was straight forward with her advice on how long it would take and any legal implication I could face. She would reach out to me her self and was very responsive. She guided me like a professional but more so reached out to me on a human level and understood the urgency of getting this matter sorted at the earliest and most cost effective way. I thank her from the bottom of my heart and would not only recommend her to others but also would love to stay in touch with her over the years! May god Bless her so she continues helping provide assistance to all in need.

I hired Melissa for my divorce/custody case. She was amazing as she led me through a process I have never been down. She made me feel comfortable, and made my wants and needs priority to her. I still continue to use Melissa to this day!

I waited a long time to post reviews as I wanted to think about feedback and be fair. I think Melissa is a decent attorney with a good legal skillset but I think she has too many clients and/or I was just another matter. I hired Melissa for my Divorce matter as a family recommendation, at first she was very helpful before I was a client but after I was a client was a different story. Given I had made some personal errors during the time of the matter but I at no time had no idea what her legal strategy was, I just saw that after a couple months, her and her paralegals had burned through the retainer extremely fast with really no results, no communication on what was going on, when I emailed questions I was charged left and right in some cases 15min for an email that took 5 min to write. I still have no idea what was discussed with opposing counsel, I've only heard bits and pieces from my ex. I nearly lost my job in this matter due to covid and work from home and a home I was not allowed in and nobody cared in the matter. In the end, I had to negotiate the settlement myself with my ex. When I sent it to Melissa she emailed opposing council to say "our clients have gone rogue" after the holidays I didn't have much more money left, I paid her $500 to just read and review the agreement, she didn't communicate back with me, 2 weeks later when I followed up she demanded I pay 2k more on the retainer, I borrowed that and I'm really not sure where that retainer went, she did make some edit to the agreement but also put that it was against her recommendation on the agreement and I assumed that was that, then she still sent me a bill for $1400 more. Her office made an error on the child support worksheet, to her credit when this was brought up she did make a phone call to the trustee. This was a terrible time in my life and I feel my trust was misplaced and used as a money making opportunity, I was a matter and nothing more. I feel Melissa may be better suited in a Firm instead of a sole attorney in a practice

I cannot express how grateful I am to have had Melissa Kelly as my attorney. From our first conversation, I felt compassion and a true sense of security. Absolutely horrible great way to waste your money and good luck getting them to return a phone call however she will go ahead and quit mid way through a case

When I was served with divorce, I was shocked, saddened, lost and devastated, just like many others I'm sure. To say confused is an understatement. I phone interviewed 3 attorneys and Melissa clearly stood out. She actually met me on a weekend to understand my situation! Her calm demeanor, ethical nature, excellent ear and ability to take a very complex problem and simplify it made me much easier to understand what path makes most sense, resulting in a calmer state. She responds with the appropriate levels to a need for the situation. That trust she built never waivers, always working in your and the kiddos best interest of the situation. Because of all the complexities of child custody and divorce, following her advice and direction has resulted in best situational outcomes but you need to let her lead the situation as she quite frankly, does know best. Costs have always been clearly detailed. Although not cheap, you get what you pay for and with dividends. Need to consider this is an investment in your and the kids future not just a transaction for the moment to get divorced, keep that in mind. Don't overthink this part, give her a chance, you won't regret it.

Melissa Schroeder is unique of sorts - A small law firm that she owns, and two magnificent paralegals. Melissa did more for me in 3 Motion filings than the last 2 counsels I had on my family case and she delivered results. Anyone knows that a Small Business is typically 5 employees or less and given she is about an office of 3 employees that are working diligently (from my own experience) with pleadings, conference calls, court hearings, depositions, and who knows what else I'd say for the amount of people they are doing a great job. A mention was made of billing issues - Well, the saying is true - "You pay for what you get." As for office door being locked - Did one ever think to call and schedule a time to meet with counsel or the paralegals? I've been to Melissa's office twice but I always was thoughtful in setting up a date/time ahead of time by sending a simple email. You will find many lawyers in Johnson County but you will only find a few that actually care about the best interests of your children and you the client. Melissa is someone I am proud to have had involved in my case and consider her to be a great person.

Very disappointed with her representation. Basically got billed for many hours with nothing to show for it. Many times tried to drop off paperwork and the office was closed and locked in the middle of the day. To this day, the paperwork I dropped off I never received back after I found new representation. Looking through my billing statement was actually funny because hours were charged for services I never received. Highly suggest looking a different direction with your hard earned money. I'm out thousands of dollars with literally nothing to show for it.
