Unfortunately, zero isn't an option. The lack of empathy in this world is gone but exceptionally with Timothy Hodge’s CSR as she has been a delight to talk to. I have struggled with an insurance bill from when I switched insurance companies. The bill was originally paid by former insurance until they realized I no longer had insurance with them, they took back there paid amount, new insurance then got the bill but because they noticed it had been paid they refused to pay. I now have a 3rd party company working to resolve my issues while on a payment plan with Adrian & Pankratz because the hospital couldn’t wait any longer (they have new side walks to pay for) which leads me to dealing with the most apathy, unkind aggressive from the start human to the point I feel as if her family might celebrate in joy when she finally leaves this earth. I will move on after expressing my experience but she will continue to take her personal issues out on others every single day. I have not spoken to Timothy Hodge personally but I would not recommend or vote for a man who allows condescending, inconsiderate and hasty behavior to people who don’t deserve it and are doing the best they can. Those who have a reason to hate the world don’t even treat people that poorly, do better.

It is interesting this firm does not list debt collection as one on the services they provide. I imagine the Midland Group-associated with Newton Medical Center is one of the their largest clients, and the revenue from medical debt collection pays well. Mr. Hodge is a democrat, whom I have voted for, and regret. Mr. Hodge have you considered legislating to decrease medical cost in this country? Instead your law firm collecting medical debt through garnishments putting low income families in a terrible situation not only financially, but emotionally when parents cannot even afford to feed their family. Shame on you. Shame on Newton Medical Center.

I received a letter from this firm stating I had a collection from a hospital. I never received a call or letter from that hospital saying the bill was due. When I called to pay the bill , I found out it was from my ex husband taking my daughter. I told this to the legal team, they were less than interested to help me take my ex to court to have him pay his share of my daughter's bills. Yet, they would rather than take money and enable him to be more of a dead beat. This is the 3rd time they have turned my case down, but they would take money for his obligations. Let me tell you, theses people are blood sucking leeches. They suck to the highest order

Cynthia helped us as my mother transitioned to nursing care. She helped us navigate financial decisions regarding this. She also helped us settle my mother's estate after her passing. My mother had no will, no prior arrangements and Cynthia helped us petition the Probate Court to allow control, then dispersal of the estate. She and her staff handled many curve balls that the situation brought our way, including the COVID shutdown while we were selling my mother's house. She diligently helped us close the estate in less than a year, with no unexpected fees or delays. She helped us through a difficult time and we would definitely recommend her.

I'll say this much if you want not just someone's experience and who they know to be the only thing that is on your side in my opinion the best choice would be Mary McDonald she doesn't just show up and look pretty she does what she is paid to do and goes the extra mile to make sure her client is given a fair and Leggett trial.......

Attorney Ben, is the best. He was of great assistance throughout the process and made everything effortless. I got my green card in 5 months. Also, my friend had a few immigration questions. We reached out to Ben and he helped us at no cost. Whereas all the lawyers my friend reached out to charged a $250 for a session. Attorney Ben is very kind, knowledgeable and pays attention to details. I’ll recommend him any day anytime. He’s simply amazing🙏🏿

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Newton, Kansas?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
