Went to court out in e town from Louisville for a speeding ticket Mr cart represented me i payed him cash on the spot 300 also spent another 250 in court cost just to get online traffic school my lawyer assured me it takes 2 to 3 months to receive my traffic school letter i called his office for over 3 months asking about my letter .we'll i finally got it today my letter . And my license is suspended which I could've gotten done for free he doesn't return my calls and now there saying it was mailed out in September .we'll I'd never pay those kinds of fees to just let my license get suspended anyways I could've not went to court at all. and would be in the same position i am in now Mr cart seemed like a good attorney but he completely mishandled my case took my money and put me off until the dot sent me a letter telling me my license is no longer valid so now idk what to do Mr cart promised a refund if I lost my license I'm hoping that since I can't talk to him on the phone that maybe he'll read this and realize what a mess he's made for me I've made every effort to get this resolved without putting a review but now I'm feeling like I just took a loss by deception

2
Highly knowledgeable, professional, and responsive to client needs

3
Provides personalized attention and genuine care for clients
“Shows genuine support and concern about his clients. Very knowledgeable attorney.”
4
Affordable and reasonable fees for the quality of service provided
“He has made this experience much easier and less stressful as well. He's very easy to reach and talk to.”
5
Consistently praised by satisfied clients
“Nick Pearl earns his reputation as being 'The hardest working attorney in Hardin Country'. He is kind, knowledgeable, always accessible, answers the phone and returns calls, and genuinely takes pride in what he does.”
Cons
1
Perceived as prioritizing money over client's best interests in some cases
“Claims to work in the best interest of children, but proved to lean towards the deciding factor of money. If you pay him enough, he will work to get whatever you want even if it is harmful to the children.”
2
Inconsistent level of service and responsiveness, with some clients reporting poor communication and neglect
“Nick Pearl will take your money then represent you however he wants. When you call for help or to talk about your situation that he arranged for you in court he has an attitude. The man takes your money sticks you with whatever outcome is easiest and fastest, then when you ask for help he says I have other clients and hangs up.”
3
Concerns about the lawyer's competence and effectiveness in handling certain cases
“This guy couldn't find his way out of a wet paper bag. Horrible representation, I literally did everything myself; while he just ate up my retainer doing NOTHING.”

Tyler Fleck was amazing. I was involved in an accident due to a drunk driver who did not have insurance. Mr. Fleck was able to work with my insurance company to get compensation for the loss of my vehicle and medical expenses. Highly recommend.

Based on no evidences and proof of my speeding. The police officer did not record my speeding, did not provide any documents of my speeding , no arguments of my speeding in the Court from the prosecutor. The police radar in the police car can record only over speeding of the police officer car and the police officer destroy the such evidences himself. I like this lawyer, he was very helpfull. I would recommend him as a lawyer everybody.

Mr. Comley exceeded all expectations. We did not get the result I was hoping for, but that was no fault of Mr. Comley. He went above and beyond what he was required to do, and fought for me every step of the way. He was always available to me and I was never left wondering if he was really prioritizing my case. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and will recommend him to any of my friends that need representation!

Gilbert (Joey) goes past being an excellent lawyer and is a great human being as well. He very clearly explained his thoughts and plan for the situation from the beginning and as it evolved. On top of this, he consistently demonstrated his compassion for myself, and made it clear he truly cared about the best outcome for me and not for himself. He is intelligent, trustworthy, and diligent. I expected needing to hire a lawyer being a less than enjoyable experience, but I can honestly say that working with Joey was enjoyable. My case involved a national security clearance, and he was incredibly helpful and sophisticated in his ability to navigate government processes and red tape. I would recommend Joey to any and all of my friends and family if legal counsel was needed.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Elizabethtown, Kentucky?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
