Mr. Comley exceeded all expectations. We did not get the result I was hoping for, but that was no fault of Mr. Comley. He went above and beyond what he was required to do, and fought for me every step of the way. He was always available to me and I was never left wondering if he was really prioritizing my case. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and will recommend him to any of my friends that need representation!

Gilbert (Joey) goes past being an excellent lawyer and is a great human being as well. He very clearly explained his thoughts and plan for the situation from the beginning and as it evolved. On top of this, he consistently demonstrated his compassion for myself, and made it clear he truly cared about the best outcome for me and not for himself. He is intelligent, trustworthy, and diligent. I expected needing to hire a lawyer being a less than enjoyable experience, but I can honestly say that working with Joey was enjoyable. My case involved a national security clearance, and he was incredibly helpful and sophisticated in his ability to navigate government processes and red tape. I would recommend Joey to any and all of my friends and family if legal counsel was needed.

Mike Pike is an amazing, compassionate lawyer. We have consulted him for our small business needs, our personal estate planning, and also for help getting our parents' estates in order. He is great about communicating at a level that is understandable and is very patient when trying to help navigate through legal issues.

Michael handled a Personal Injury for me several years ago and he did everything possible to help me. The person driving the other vehicle was Underinsured and Michael got a very sufficient settlement for me. He also helped my daughter with a Personal Injury case a few years ago and she was satisfied with her settlement too. I don't think that anyone could have a better, more diligent attorney handling any case that he takes on.

Chris was the beacon of hope and the shield of armor that I needed to battle through such harrowing times after a set of unfortunate events that took place in my life on August of 2023. Many thanks I owe to such a great well educated and experienced attorney that knows how to navigate though such dark and choppy waters of our "Justice system".

Contacted Chris for a complex criminal case at a very stressful time in my life. He listened very carefully to my questions and concerns with true sincerity . I never felt rushed or that he didn’t have any time for me. I never felt misled either. In our initial conversation/consultation he was very honest, cordial, upfront and compassionate. Chris was very pleasant, personable and very easy to talk to. He actually listens to what you have to say and pays great attention to your needs, concerns or questions. He didn’t make any promises that he couldn’t keep. He followed through with everything he told me that he was going to do. He didn’t sugarcoat anything. Chris is full of integrity and truly cares about you and justice. He fought hard for me just as he promised that he would, and he appeared to look very confident, natural and seasoned when in the court room. Very professional and very approachable. Chris answers his phone calls very promptly and doesn’t use excuses like most attorneys do. Even when he was in court on other cases he would take the time to at least text me if he couldn’t take my call. He truly cares about you as an individual and your legal rights. I never felt like I was just another paycheck for him. He was a very genuine and sincere individual. He treated me with dignity and respect. When faced with serious or complex legal issues Chris is your best asset. I’m so grateful that I had him on my side. He was also highly recommended by his peers and respected in the courtroom. My life is back on track now and I have Chris to thank for that! When facing scary and overwhelming legal issues , I promise you that you want to have a pro like Chris in your corner! He brings results! Chris is also very reasonably priced for the stellar legal representation that he provides compared to the other attorneys I’ve dealt with previously. Chris has worked harder for me than any other attorney that I’ve ever hired. I felt like I got a lot of bang for my buck! I Would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for ANY of your legal needs and I will be using him for ANY type of legal assistance I ever have a need for in the future. Chris handles all different types of legal issues not just criminal, so please do yourselves a favor and at least give him a call for any legal issues that you might be facing. Chris goes above and beyond any expectations that you’d normally expect from an attorney. He will tell you he will fight hard for you, and he means it! Chris fought very hard for me and his strong efforts provided excellent results! He actually follows through on his word unlike most attorneys that only want your money. Chris has a lot of integrity and it shows! Very communicative and caring about you and your case. Do yourself a huge favor and call him if you need legal assistance and I promise that you won’t be disappointed if you hire him for your all your legal needs! VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Elizabethtown, Kentucky?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
