This man right here I would recommend to anyone and everyone , I have had to call him couple times for legal advise and he always took time out of his day to give me the proper advise I needed and never charged me a consultation fee or anything . Regardless if I had to pay a lawyer or not this is the guy I would be paying cuz he always has been honest and always was willing to help without asking for money to talk to me : now that’s what I call a good man and a great attorney ! Thanks frank for helping me out .

Frank listened to what I needed and although he knew he couldn't take my case because it wasn't criminal he gave me some great advice and referred me to the correct kind of lawyer I would need.

Thank you so much for taking the time to advise me, in depth, without compensation. I don't have extensive experience dealing with legal problems, but sense that my personal, positive experience in consulting Mr. Mungo was a reflection of his knowledge, integrity, and genuine desire to be of assistance - as he certainly was.

Nicholas advised us on different options for estate planning and helped us set up a will and trust for our children. He explained all of our options extremely well, gave us advice on what choices were available, and answered all questions we had in order to make the best decisions for our needs. We really struggled with deciding on one specific detail of our will, and Nicholas was very patient and understanding, never pushed us to make a decision and waited until we were ready to finalize everything. I highly recommend Nicholas, and would definitely seek his professional assistance again for future needs.

My wife and I needed to set up a Will and Trust after having our kids and really had no idea what it was that we needed to do. Nicholas took the time to explain everything to us and made sure that we were fully educated so that we could make our own decisions. He was extremely responsive to any question that we had an was patient with us throughout the process. After completing the documentation and before letting us sign it he again went over everything and ensured that we were comfortable with what we were signing. I would HIGHLY recommend using Nicholas Kowalski for any legal need and know that he would always consider your best interests. I know we will call him again if we ever have another need.

Mr Nighswander has represented me on four different occasions in a variety of matters. Each legal action was handled professionally with a minimum of my needing to be involved. I was kept advised each step of the way. All four actions were settled in my favor and only one of them had to go to court. The other three were settled in arbitration, which was suggested by Mr Nighswander, thereby saving me a good deal of money and not wasting the court's time. For me, Mr Nighswander did an exceptional job. I will continue to use his services when the need for legal representation arises.

Nick Nighswander is one of the hardest working attorneys. I highly recommend him. I hired Nick to represent my father's estate when he died in a fire caused by a defective product. When the case concluded, it was reported as one of the largest personal injury settlements in KY at the time. I attribute this result to Nick's tenacity and work ethic. If you want someone to fight for you, then hire Nick.

Mr. Nighswander was very efficient in handling my late husband's and my bankruptcy proceedings. Also, after my husband's death he was able to get my bankruptcy payments reduced since my income had been reduced, by half. I respected his efficiency in the handling of my late husband's probate proceedings. He is a very professional attorney but also showed compassion for us/me during our appointments with him. He updated my will, power of attorney and other legal matters. I have highly recommended his legal services to numerous friends.

Maria was an excellent negotiator in my case. She will be honest with you and let you know what is in your best interest and protect that. I came to her after making zero progress with a previous attorney. She came highly recommended to me and was a perfect fit for me and my case! She is very personable and gets the job done.

Maria handled a mediation for me. The other side was looking to go to court. Maria was able to negotiate going to mediation instead saving me $$$ and was able to get me what I wanted. Bottom line is, Maria Ante is a great attorney! You want her on your side!!!

Maria represented me on a personal injury case. I was in a significant amount of pain when I hired her and also was stressed out dealing with a very pushy insurance adjuster. She was very helpful during this difficult time in my life. It was quite a lengthy process from beginning to end... several years in fact. Maria was able to work on this case so I could focus on what was important to me, healing and recovering. Maria was great about updating me on the progress of my case throughout the entire process. We tried meditation first but we ended up taking it to trial. I was pleased with the outcome and Maria exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend her!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Florence, Kentucky?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
