Cons
1
Lack of responsiveness and poor communication from attorneys
“I have been living in a nightmare for the last y months and to be accused of a crime you didn't commit, treated as though you were #1 on the FBI's most wanted list, police stormed my home without so much as even a knock on the door, scared my child to pieces, threw me into jail for the first time in my almost 40 years on earth, and I was facing stacking legal fees.”
2
Concerns about billing practices and unexpected fees
“I scraped every dime in my savings to pay him because I was scared for my life! Anyway, once Ryan was paid he would NOT answer my calls, my texts, nothing! For days!”
3
Delays and failure to meet agreed-upon timelines
“I was told the legal matter i needed resolved was very simple and would easily be resolved in 3 months. 10 painstaking months later we finally finished.”
4
Unprofessional and unethical conduct by some attorneys
“Ryan! You are an evil thief! The good Lord in Heaven sees all! One day you evil blood sucking money hungry crooked attorneys will answer to the one ultimate judge, and that is God.”
5
Lack of follow-through and poor case management
“Go somewhere else. Their lack of follow through is horrible. I retained their services in March 2021 to help with my messy divorce. During that time they were supposed to also help me get child support modified. Even after signing the paperwork it has yet to be filed so I had to request it myself.”

I am finally getting around to leaving a review that I should’ve left when I experienced problems with Ryan Beck. I hired this attorney in October 2021, I was “potentially” facing a case with ATF. He told me he needs a $5,000 retainer fee, I scraped every dime in my savings to pay him because I was scared for my life! Anyway, once Ryan was paid he would NOT answer my calls, my texts, nothing! For days! I continually called his office and left messages with his paralegal to no avail. My mom even called the office. Only then! Did he call back to tell me,”Tell your Mother to stop calling my office” So then I’m begging him to please tell me have you heard anything? He said”Yeah I put a call in to the prosecuting attorney Kyle Winslow, who actually used to work for me, and he was talking in code and didn’t really tell me anything about you, but I’ll keep you posted” That was the last conversation I had with him. Come to find out there was NO case with ATF. I then pleaded and begged Ryan for the rest of my money back, that I’m a single mom, I’m broke, can you please have mercy, please have a heart and give my money that’s rightfully mine back! NOTHING!! He stole that from me! Ryan! You are an evil thief! The good Lord in Heaven sees all! One day you evil blood sucking money hungry crooked attorneys will answer to the one ultimate judge, and that is God. I’m not sure how attorneys like you can sleep at night knowing you screwed a starving single mother out of thousands!! Thousands that could’ve taken care of my family! You con man!!

I cannot speak highly enough about the exceptional service I received from Greg and his team at BFZ Law in Florence Ky Navigating the complexities of expense reimbursement following an auto accident can be daunting, especially in a no-fault state like Kentucky. However, Greg's expertise and thorough understanding of the nuances involved were evident from the start. The firm's commitment to integrity and honesty was clear throughout the entire process. They provided timely feedback at every stage, ensuring I was fully informed and actively engaged in all decision-making aspects. I truly appreciated how they made me feel like a valued partner in the process. Their attention to detail and dedication to my case was outstanding. I felt supported and confident that my best interests were always their top priority. If you need a law firm that exemplifies professionalism, transparency, and expertise, Greg has an amazing team. Thank you Greg and all for your impeccable service and for making m challenging situation much more manageable. Strongly recommend!! Dr. Jack Rudnick Jr

I was sued for breach of contract, even though I was the party wronged. Jason was able to get to the bottom of the matter, file a counterclaim and put an end to two years of absolute nonsense. What a relief! I am forever grateful for his help, will definitely hire him again if anything else ever comes up, and highly recommend him.

Although I titled this review under "Potential wrongful termination" it would have been a "wrongful termination" if not for the brilliance of Mr. Jason Atkins. Faced with an eminent firing, I contacted Jason to explain my situation. Desperate to find out what actions a lone employee could take against a major corporation that was in the process of coercing me to sign a document that would have forced me to resign my job. Jason was able to provide a calming voice and deep insight to show me that my situation was not hopeless. Jason responded with quick action and extensive research. He wrote a letter to my company stating the facts and circumstances of my situation, and cited proven case law that convinced my company to reverse their stance. Jason was directly responsible saving my job! I recommend him highly!

I would trust Dale T. Wilson with any matter that needs a professional lawyer's expertise and guidance. He takes his time and explains the details of what actions need to be taken in terms that you can understand and guides you through each step of the process along the way. He truly cares about you as a person and whatever has brought you to him for his legal services.

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Florence, Kentucky?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
