Care about who your lawyer is? THEN READ I experienced my first automobile accident, and total loss. I knew I was not at fault, and so I documented the scene of the accident. I went home thinking to myself, "Okay, time to layer up, let me call the guys I see on every commercial, billboard, tv commercial, etc." You see, this was where I made my first mistake. This is not in any way intended to shame any of them either, they are big for a reason, and they have earned it. My point is, it's not always the big ones you need to save you when you need it. Because my vehicle was not in involved in a massive accident with an 18 wheeler and I was not deathly injured, my case did not receive much attention to the top names. To make matters worse, because I questioned everything (why wouldn't I, this is MY LIFE here at stake) I had lawyers question even if I was the one to blame for this. I couldn't and didn't trust any doubt given to me about my situation. At first, I ended up going with a lawyer one of my best friends used and recommended to me. He was a very nice guy. The problem in my eyes was, because I had presented him with all of my information of a winning case (and police records later verified this), he felt he could accept me as a client even though he had a large amount of case files. I got to the point where everything was a hassle for me because I could not get a hold of this guy. The battle to get the others party insurance agent over the phone took a month to get a rental and almost another to get my property damage value. This was because he was in charge of remaining in contact with them, and they both lacked serious communication. I eventually got the point where I was on a almost 2 month wait for to get a hold of my previous attorney to help change the process of treatment I was receiving and I was no longer getting any better. I was recommended the Locke firm by a friend of a friend and so I called one day and introduce Collins Locke Meredith. On a call, I explained and emailed him everything I had to verify that my case was already won, but because of the lack of communication and action from my first attorney, I was at a standstill with now a new car note and still injured. We agreed to meet for a consultation in order to how to proceed from here and begin settling my case; an easy and quick way for a lawyer to take on a client and earn his pay once the process began. What happens next is where I really gained respect for Collins, just as a person. He calls me a few days before asking if we could please reschedule because he had an aunt that needed a back operation and wanted to be there for her and support her. Collins Locke Meredith, a man blessed with having his parents with him and his own family to support, deciding to potentially gamble taking on a easy winning case and paycheck (because we had never actually confirmed and signed paperwork that he was to be hired now to present me) because he wanted to be there for his aunt. From a business perspective, a move you would not want to do. But from a genuine person perspective, one you would. Of course I agreed and offered him and his family the best wishes. Fast forward a couple months; what I needed for him to do treatment wise was done for me. He set me up with his own providers, got me appointments, as well as the procedures I needed to help myself get physically better and finally close the final chapters to this madness I was dealt with from the accident. Yes, the Locke firm is a large well known family one, but Collins is one of the newer members on board. He is an honest, caring, and genuine individual that really does look out and work hard for you. A huge shout out to his paralegal, Deana, as well who would answer questions and give assistance even though being 8 months pregnant and close to labor.
