I worked with Ware Immigration Law Firm for my Permanent Residency (green card) almost 9 years ago. Everything worked out great, and even though it was a lot of work, I received a lot of guidance and advice from both my lawyer and my paralegal assistant. I am currently based in Philadelphia (I am an Assistant Professor and direct the PCOM Cardiac Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology Laboratory (PCOM CARE Lab)). Because of my previous positive experience with Ware Immigration Law Firm, I decided to work with them again on my Naturalization application. And I am really happy with the decision I made. I was able to prepare and submit my application with the invaluable assistance of my paralegal assistant Pilar Perez and my lawyer Samantha Hechtman. They were there for me whenever I had questions and concerns, and they assisted me during the whole process. I feel that they were able to deliver 100% of what I was looking for. They are knowledgeable, reliable and assisted me in a timely manner, and I was able to navigate the process without fear of making mistakes and in a very low-stressed mode (which was exactly what I was looking for). It has been a week since I took the Oath of Allegiance and became a US citizen. So I highly recommend Ware Immigration Law Firm due to the knowledgeable, reliable and empathic people that constitute their core.

Mr. Mitchell (Jeffrey) is still representing me in this case. It has been ongoing for almost seven years. Jeffrey began my representation in 2003. For various reasons, other attorneys within his firm represented me. About a year ago, the attorney assigned to me had to resign. I was quite upset, but Jeffrey was kind enough to take my case, and to reassure me. Putting my fears to rest, he has proceeded with gusto to get the case settled. He has always kept me informed. He has shown tremendous knowledge of the law, as well as the medical aspects of the suit. When I had to give my deposition in front of three attorneys, representing three different doctors, he educated me thoroughly, allowing me to relax and show my belief in myself and my suit. Beyond any doubt, it was because of Jeffrey that I was able to answer questions confidently, while revealing my integrity to those other lawyers. He has supported me in every possible manner. I feel my suit will finally be settled this year because Mr. Mitchell is going to do what needs to be done to get it settled without further delays. The qualities I most admire in Mr. Mitchell is his body of kowledge and his professionalism. His depositions are truly works of art. He is always sure I understand what is happening and what needs to be done next. He makes time for me when I have a question, or when I need clarification on anything. He never puts me off; he demonstrates that not only is my case important to him, but that I definitely matter to him. There is no higher compliment I could give him than this: Jeffrey Mitchell gives lawyers a good name. He is an intelligent man, a "legal artist" with an amazing ability, and he presents these qualities to his clients, while showing a kindness that touches one's heart.

I met Malcolm almost 2 years ago. I have never met a more concerned, caring attorney. It’s obvious helping and protecting others is his passion. I know he is very busy with much bigger cases but makes me feel that my case is most important. He never seems in a hurry and listens to every word I say and even chuckles at times to let me know what is important and what might be just important to me. His concern about my son 16 years old that has Autism is unbelievable how much concern he has for him and his future. I feel God has blessed me with the best. I will be forever grateful no matter what the outcome. I know without doubt life is not always fair. I know Malcolm did everything he could by law to protect us, guide us through the most difficult time in my life and son. No matter how nervous or scared after talking to him I walk away feeling my problems are not has bad as I thought. I’m amazed as I have more words and thoughts than most but Malcolm always remembers everything and comes back with a plan. Not only as an attorney but obvious a man with morals and grand desire to help others no matter how big or small your legal issue may be. I highly recommend him his knowledge of law and ability to read others is amazing. When my 16 year old has a question or problem he ask me if he can call Malcolm? I always tell him to write it down until our next meeting with him. The amazing thing if Brandon did get in touch with him he would never make him feel silly for calling. Our case is not complete but no matter the outcome I know Malcolm did everything by law he could do. No one would ever regret having Malcolm on their side. Norma

Mr. Robinson is a very professional, proficient attorney. He has passed several notarial acts for me and others, while also providing direction and advice relevant to the matters at hand. Mr. Robinson is an excellent listener, something all too many attorneys lack, so that he may provide the best guidance necessary.

I had a wonderful consultation experience with Ms. Naomi Kim regarding my parent's divorce situation. She is very professional, knowledgeable, and honest. I could tell that she really cares about her clients and their needs. Her fluency in Korean language also helped me a lot. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate professional.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Metairie, Louisiana?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
