I have TWICE now called upon this Law firm. Both times I spoke with Ron Katz. I was having an issue with a different law firm. Ron called them on my behalf and within an hour I received a phone call. The issue was taken care of immediately. The same Law firm I am still stuck with has been dragging their feet on my issue again. I called Ron, he explained what steps need to be taken to get a fair and equitable resolution. I now have enough information to educate my own Lawyer who was supposed to take care of my case and has proven weak and ineffective. Thanks to Joel L Katz LLC and Ron Katz I know what needs to be done and I have a plan of action. I should have never hired the other Lawyer! The Katz law firm is responsive, aggressive and has your best interest at hand.

Fantastic service! Great Staff! Knowledgeable! It is only ABOVE AND BEYOND for these people! I brought these folks one ugly WC case. They did not flinch. Ron Katz took the helm of an amazing Team: Clint Allgair and Jennifer Kennedy took the lead on one side… Jessica Bhagan took the lead on my WC claim and Joyce Burton was my paralegal point of contact. Across the board the experience has been exceptional! When an attorney from another firm tells you how exceptional Clint Allgair is, you are impressed with your choice of representation. BUT, when you are leaving a Workmans Comp hearing and a prominent Baltimore city attorney pulls you to the side to tell you how smart and keen your Lawyer was in there: Referring to Jessica Bhagan… You are really happy with your choice of Law firms. And I am. Calls are answered, emails are promptly returned and they happily answer all questions, even the dumb ones.

I was in a car accident back in 10/2022. I required an attorney to handle my case because the party at fault had no insurance. The Law Offices of Joel L. Katz assisted me with my case and medical care. My first source of contact was Jennifer Clark who is the Senior Paralegal. Ms. Clark was wonderful with provided information and listening to my concerns. This senior paralegal knows her stuff and makes sure she retrieves all proper information to build your case. A BIG thank you for always taking the time to assist with all my questions and concerns. (Even during my frustrating moments) Jennifer was able to negotiated my medical care/bills, she kept track of all my medical care and bill statement. Provided wonderful referrals inwhich I received great care. My direct attorney who handles my case was Ronald Katz. When I was unable to get in contact with Ms. Clark, Ron made sure I knew he was available any time via phone or email. One of them was always available to answer questions or concerns. Ron provided a quick response and was persistent to reach insurance companies. We had some issues receiving response from the insurance company and Ron made sure to keep me updated every attempt he made. Ron looked out for my case and made sure I was receiving the best offer. Ron was clear every step of the way making sure I understood the next step if I was unhappy with my offer. Ron’s knowledge and professional experience help my case receive the max offer without going to trail. They were prompt with paperwork submission to complete the case. Ron’s professionalism and customer service is spectacular. I received my payment express delivery. Ron took the time to hand deliver my settlement check to my home. As we all know how some mail can be delayed during the holidays. My case closed perfectly during the end of the year holidays of 2023. Extremely grateful for their services and highly recommend them. They have joined the Lopez family as their attorney. I will seek their service in the future if I require them. Thank you again!

Mr. Robinson is an excellent attorney and was very responsive and helpful in our landlord/tenant case. The advice he gave was invaluable and it was truly a pleasure working with him and having him as our counsel at trial. From initial advisement until the end of trial took several months, and he was always there for us anytime we needed him. He was extremely professional and we would highly recommend him!

Our practice was being systematically cheated by insurance companies who declined to pay for surgeries they had authorized. Mr. Jaindl persuaded them to pay by taking them to court and then negotiating with their lawyers. He got all of our money for us, though I can't say the insurance company has entirely learned their lesson. We plan to hire him again with the next major incident.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Annapolis, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
