I was referred to Ms Hill from a small practice in the District of Columbia who was willing to represent me, but was unfortunately not yet licensed in Maryland. They highly recommend Ms. Hill as a young estate attorney with a small practice. (That she was willing to step outside the corporate world to pursue her own dreams is high recommendation in itself.) My needs are simple: I am an older, single person with no heirs and a small estate. I wanted this estate, in the event of illness and death, to both respect my wishes for my own decline and end, as well as benefit both a friend and my nephews with what is left. I contacted several large law firms who were not specifically estate attorneys but had estate lawyers as part of their practice. They all required similarly large retainers and thus seemed more suited to clients with more complex needs. As it happened, I lucked into finding the practice in DC, who then referred me to Meredith Hill. Ms. Hill was happy and willing to briefly speak to me via phone to gauge the complexity of my estate. This she gave freely. From that conversation she was able to quote me a solid price to create all the paperwork necessary for my personal representative to carry out my needs and wishes during an unavoidable and ugly phase of life. Despite the grim nature of the documents, working with Ms. Hill via email and phone was pleasant and efficient. Issues that could not be communicated easily through text were handled over the phone, and documents were easily exchanged via email. Upon our physical meeting for the final document signing, Meredith Hill and her law clerk were both exceedingly friendly, accommodating, and understanding of my needs. Ms. Hill answered last minute questions, made 11th hour changes, and finally explained and eliminated a seemingly (and in fact actually) redundant and possibly confusing document. Frankly, as a person who is essentially alone in this world, having strong documents are the only defense against what could be horrific treatment as I expire. Ms. Hill created those documents for me. I highly recommend Meredith Hill for those needing estate planning, as she seems to understand the nuance clients bring to her, and she creates strong plans and documents that fit that client's situation. My experience was outstanding. She's a great lawyer!
