I worked as a paralegal intern there until COVID made them down size. I made some good friends and had a great experience while working there.

Paul Reinstein is the best attorney in the DC/VA/MD area. I was in a dire strait situation with all odds against me. Many attorneys turned down representing me telling me that I was in a "no win" situation. That was until I found Mr Reinstein. He was not only willing to help but I could feel his compassion for my situation. Immediately he and his fantastic staff went into motion. They were not just hard workers and knowledgeable but they were extremely kind and caring.. Paul, in the courtroom is a powerhouse. He not only knows the law so well, his cross examination cannot be touched!! He knew every angle of my case and researched every aspect so that the opposing party could be no match for us. I like the fact that he not only thinks how we will proceed but how the opposing party will as well. Against all odds, I won the case many attorneys told me I had no chance of winning. I truly believe I wouldn't have been able to cross the hurdle without Mr Reinstein.. Additionally it was nice seeing the other attorneys in the courthouse giving him so much respect. That is because they all knew like I did, he was the best. All I can say is if your looking for the best and you want to win, even if the odds are against you, Paul Reinstein is your answer…. Thank you Paul and your wonderful staff. Now I can begin my new life with a smile…..

I was immediately impressed with Mr. Reinstein's intimate knowledge of the law and his work with the Maryland Legislature on Family Law. My divorce quickly turned into a custody battle and as anxious as I was I felt very confident with Mr. Reinstein handling my case. Prior to Mr. Reinstein, I had another attorney representing me that did not work out well. I very quickly realized the difference between a good attorney and a bad attorney. Mr. Reinstein is clearly passionate about what he does and I can not thank him enough for his help.

This was my first time using an Investigators to help locate a person. They were very professional and stayed in constant contact with me as they progressed in their investigation. Kate, who was assigned to my case was the best !! She followed through on everything with me, explaining step by step processes every chance she got. I would recommend Lynx’s Security Group to anyone who needs this type of service. They are definitely A1 in their field of expertise.

I was looking at Private Detective academies, and after learning about Lynx Security Group, and talking back and forth with the owner, Ed a few times, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that a course was dropping several months ahead of schedule. My expectations for the course were exceeded on day one. Ed has assembled an incredible team of instructors, each an expert in their respective field. The course material was easy to follow and the practical exercises reinforced what we were learning. Ed’s passion, thoroughness, and attention to detail was apparent. Personally, I love the fact that Ed doesn’t believe in “rubber-stamping.” If you can’t show that you are competent, you will not pass the course. In addition to being graded by the instructors, you are also graded by your classmates. The education didn't stop once the course was over. Ed continues to put together live webinars to enhance your skill set and build upon what was learned in class. These webinars also include all-star lineups and have been an invaluable tool. I’ve never felt more prepared. Without hesitation, I’d recommend LSG for both training and their services. I couldn’t be happier with the product that Ed and his team put forth and I’m looking forward to training with them again in the very near future.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Bowie, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
