Mr Dempsher is an awesome lawyer, he is sharp, intelligent and he is kind. He picked up my child support case towards the end, as I went pro se initially. He diligently went through all discovery documents and showed up prepared for our hearing, and won an judgement that my child deserves. If you have family matters, get him on your side!

Chris Rolle and his exceptional legal team are truly top-notch! In times of upheaval, finding a lawyer who not only comprehends the law/complexities of your situation but also exhibits unwavering compassion can be a game-changer. Chris/team took my case midstream and hit the ground running from day #1.From the moment I entered their office, I sensed a palpable blend of experience/competence, professionalism and compassion that set the tone for the entire journey. The team proved to be a well-oiled machine, expertly handling the intricacies of my case while providing the support I desperately needed. What sets this office apart is their commitment to communication—Chris was a beacon of reliability, promptly responding to emails, calls, and even text messages, even during 'after hours' and weekends (because that’s his style not because I asked him to). They go beyond being just 'a case'; you can trust that they will deliver on their promises without the need for follow-ups or excuses. And… they never put you off or make you feel like you are just a number or ‘too much.’Their thoughtful/caring and direct approach, combined with impressive organizational skills, made me feel a level of trust crucial during a tumultuous period. In a world where genuine assistance often gets overshadowed, Chris Rolle's office stands out as a beacon of hope. If you're seeking competence, compassion, and a team genuinely invested in your well-being, look no further—this is the office to call. Don't waste time 'shopping' around; put your trust in a team that embodies dignity, hard work, and a relentless commitment to getting the job done. Thank you, Chris Rolle and team for helping me plow through the mess.Hands down: worth every cent.I highly recommend this practice and only wish I would have found you sooner.

My lawyer, Michael Dempsher, has been very helpful to me regarding my complicated custody case. I learned much about legal matters over the years, 2017 to early 2023, and I don’t know how I would have survived this timeframe without his help and understanding. It has been a very rough, painful time, as the father of my son was extremely difficult to work with since he fought every inch of the way to make me appear – an unfit mother – as he called it. I was never the problem. Eventually, Mr. Dempsher became certain that I was not the one at fault, but the father most certainly was. Mr. Dempsher’s legal skills proved this in court, which became quite obvious to most in the court room. Over the years (since 2017), others that were familiar with my case said that they had never seen such a terrible and lengthy custody case in their lives. I have never seen any lawyer who responded as quick as Mr. Dempsher has with me. Whenever I had questions, he will respond to me right away, either by email or phone call. His work ethic is excellent, one who is willing to work late, even after the office has closed, to make sure he gets his work done. Anyone reading this review, and having such difficulties, and, problems similar to this (custody), you might wish to consider reaching out to Michael Demspsher for his help. He has certainly helped me and my son.

I hired John to clear up title on my home so that I could sell it. As we learned more about the file, the work had to be modified. John communicated clearly, kept us informed and provided a good sense that he was treating us very fairly.

We went to John when we were about to lose our home to foreclosure. Not only was he able to stop the foreclosure, we were able to get caught back up on our mortgage in a Chapter 13 plan, and have been able to keep our family home. He explained everything to us in detail as the case moved forward and always told us what we could expect. He held our hands the entire way. We would recommend him to anybody facing the loss of their home.

Elizabeth is an outstanding lawyer. She thoroughly understands the legal and emotional process of separation and divorce and the impact on families and children. She is calm, firm, and very skillful in her approach to the process. She is also very patient as these matters sometimes take months and years to adjudicate. Furthermore, her fees are reasonable considering her expertise and the time involved. I feel lucky that she "hand held" me through my situation and was empathetic to the psychology of my former partner. She had a good handle on things from a financial and psychological standpoint and has the experience to adjust to the need of the client depending on the situation..ie, level of contention between estranged spouses. I highly recommend Elizabeth if you are in the process of seeking counsel and she is available. Good luck !

Responsive, professional, and affordable is how I'd describe our company's experience with Radiance. She kept us well informed during every step of our trademark process. Having worked with hourly attorneys in the past, I must admit I was a bit apprehensive about her flat rate billing, but I was totally impressed by the amount of time she invested in answering our questions down to the smallest detail. As a small business owner, it feels good to have a trusted advisor and strategic partnership [like Radiance] in our corner. We've already begun referring her to our fellow small business owners.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Frederick, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
