Michael Steinhardt was the attorney on my case. He and his secretary, Karen, are fantastic. They both worked very hard on my case. This firm defended and fought for me to get what I needed when the insurance company pushed against me. I would recommend this firm to anyone who’s been hurt on the job.

I have used Mike and Keith on several cases over the last 40 years. During that time several cases and appeals were won on Workmen’s Comp. Ultimately I used Their office to appeal Social Security and won. On one specific case we took to the (Maryland) Court of Appeals and won so as you see I have had nothing but success using Mike and Keith. I can’t speak for their additional attorneys but knowing Mike and Keith I’m sure they are top notch. So I would highly recommend their office for your legal concerns. Dave

Michael Steinhardt and his staff treated me with the utmost respect. Highly professional, knowledgeable and courteous. They listened to what I had to say and were able to resolve the dispute to my satisfaction.

On July 31, 2013, I retained Keith Siskind and his law firm Steinhardt, Siskind and Associates LLC to represent me in connection with my claim for disability benefits from Unum Insurance Company. I have a complicated medical history and overwhelming diagnosed evidence of disability, including memory and cognitive problems. This firm failed to adequately represent me nor did it make any real attempts to get my disability claim approved. To my horror, the firm unilaterally terminated its representation of me (dumped me) on September 30, 2013. The reason? Mr. Siskind realized that I did not have short-term disability coverage too and felt he wouldn’t make enough money on my long-term disability claim alone. Mr. Siskind told me to contact him if my claim was denied and led me to believe he would help me if that occurred. Instead, I was thrown to the wolves. Within weeks of Mr. Siskind dumping me, Unum took advantage of the fact that I no longer had a lawyer and denied my claim on bogus grounds. I contacted Mr. Siskind to ask him to represent me on the appeal. He and his firm refused to honor their obligation to represent me and didn’t help with my appeal. I was unable to secure new counsel because other lawyers don’t want to get involved in a case that another lawyer has been involved in. I was forced to prepare my own appeal and spent countless hours on it. At this time, Unum owes me over $27,000 in back benefits. Unum has played games, dragged their feet and violated my rights. They’ve gotten away with it because I don’t have a lawyer. I am about to lose my house, my car and my health insurance. If Unum denies my appeal, I will have to file a lawsuit myself in Federal Court. I may never be able to work again. I am 38 years old. If I can’t work again, Unum will owe me $650,000 in benefits. Recently I asked Mr. Siskind again to help me. Its unethical for a lawyer to dump a client and leave a disabled client in my situation without counsel. Mr. Siskind refused. Mr. Siskind cited a clause in his law firm’s retainer agreement which allows their firm to terminate representation. It states, “If after investigation, or at any other time, it is the opinion of the Law Firm that my claims do not appear to be meritorious and/or recoverable or substantial, the Law Firm may exercise the right to terminate their representation of me.” The retainer agreement doesn’t define “substantial” – so if the firm changes their mind and decides they won’t make enough money on your case, they’ll dump you. I wish I had never retained this law firm. This has been a nightmare. I am going to file a bar complaint and sue the firm for damages. Think twice before you retain a disability lawyer. Find a lawyer who will honor their commitment to represent you and one that will fight for you.

They only help whales. If you want a lawyer who cares about you and will actually try for you look somewhere else.
