Getting a divorce is not an easy thing. It is emotionally draining and sometimes it can be financially draining as well. I never thought that I would ever need a divorce lawyer. When the need came, I didn't know what to do. I found Danels & Ladieri online. I looked through many lawyers before settling on them. I am extremely happy that I did. Mike Danels listened to me during my first meeting (I was a mess). He listened and then told me what was best (and least expensive) for my case. I went with mediation, but Mr. Danels was behind me every step of the way, and some. He looked at my settlement papers, advised me on so many other administrative things. I had an extremely good mediator, but I also had a very good lawyer, solely dedicated to my interests. He was there to represent in court. I don't wish divorce on anybody, but if you find yourself in that situation; don't hesitate to reach out to them. I know I sound like an infomercial, but he helped ensure that I would be secured in my old age and all that without acrimony. That is the thing, civility and dignity was maintained during the whole process. Thank you, Mr. Danels.

When I found myself facing a possible corrupt situation at work I was not sure what to do. After trying several law firms, Brain Markowitz was mentioned & I called him. He listened to my story, he asked me pertinent questions & he agreed to help. That was the beginning of years of hard work. Brian guided me through the long legal process with intelligence, humor & kindness. He always returned my calls promptly - day or night. He always made sure that I understood every part of the process. He graciously got to know a bit about me personally, noted my sense of humor & then usually ended every call with a laugh which always put me at ease. Brian was optimistic when I was ready to give up. He was patient no matter how many questions I had. He spoke with my wife about the potential troubles ahead & that helped our conversations at home about the project. I would recommend Brian to anyone that needs brilliant legal help. He understands how to successfully communicate about legal details. He thorougly prepared me for deposition & trial. Years after our settlement when we needed legal help again we called Brian for a referral & he helped us with that. My wife & I consider Brian to be our friend. We are happy to follow his career successes. We are eternally grateful to Brian & consider ourselves fortunate to know him. He restored our faith in the goodness of humanity.

Title: Exceptional Consultation Experience with Attorney John Burns I recently had the opportunity to consult with Attorney John Burns and I am compelled to share my experience. While I have not yet hired him for legal representation, the consultation alone left a lasting impression. From the moment I walked into his office, I felt at ease due to Mr. Burns' welcoming demeanor and his genuine interest in my concerns. Unlike many other lawyers, he took the time to understand not only the legal aspects of my situation but also my personal goals, talents, and aspirations. This personalized approach was refreshing, especially in an industry where clients often feel reduced to mere cases. Mr. Burns' advice and encouragement were incredibly inspiring. He was the first attorney who didn't just focus on the problems at hand, but instead, he saw potential solutions and opportunities. I am real person feel free to contact me to verify my experience text only 4437221929. I had a bad attorney in the past therefore I understand checking references.

I am writing this review to inform those who are looking for a qualified, dependable, and professional law firm to perform legal matters on your account, look no more. I contacted, consulted with and hired them to represent me (and boy did they), Six months later my case was confirmed and I had a financial plan that was necessary to place my life back on track. Their professionalism , in depth knowledge, and will-do aptitude was just what I needed at this junction of my life. I would highly recommend this law firm to all.

My wife and I retained the services of John Burns after an issue arose in our bankruptcy case that our original attorney was unable to resolve. From the onset, Mr. Burns knew the correct action to take to bring an acceptable resolution to the matter. Once a resolution was achieved, we thought our issues were over. Unfortunately, the creditor in the prior matter failed to take the proper action on their side which led us to retaining the services of John Burns again. Mr. Burns and his firm worked diligently to ensure our rights as debtors were protected and that the creditor would be held responsible for their neglectful actions. Though it was a long process, we are happy with the results and can now put this behind us and get on with our lives. His experience and the experience of his associate (Melissa) was invaluable to us and we thank them. Although stressful, Mr. Burns was able to get a positive outcome for us in this matter. I would highly recommend John Burns and his firm!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Greenbelt, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
