Mr. Greene handled my bankruptcy case with the utmost respect and did everything he could to give me the best possible outcome in my case. I have nothing but good things to say about his practice. He is a very well educated man that is familiar with the law. I would highly recommend others to his services.

I hired Mr. Mester to take on a negligence claim for my son. From the moment him and his associates (Maria and Colleen) took us on, we were treated probably better than family because Christian is extremely meticulous so I know he sacrificed a lot of his personal time to make sure every t and i was crossed and dotted. Honestly, there is no dollar amount to describe how thankful I am for every single one of them, their time, and their urgency to make sure my son's comfortability was prioritized. They will neverrrrr stop fighting for you. About a year after the case, Maria had sent not only gifts but a blanket that she handmade. That should explain how they work. It is personal to them. I was pregnant during part of the case and they made sure I was okay medically to perform certain tasks. They fought their behinds off for my family and because of that I didn't JUST hire them. Instead, these are the type of people who leave lasting impressions on your life. Because they made it personal to them, they are now personal to me. You just can't put a price on that kind of dedication.

I had the pleasure of working with Eric, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the way he handled my case. From the very beginning, he demonstrated a deep understanding of the litigation process and provided clear, professional guidance at every step. Eric was always responsive, proactive, and ensured that I was fully informed of all my options. His attention to detail and strategic approach made a significant difference in the outcome. About a month prior to the pandemic I was rear ended and suffered from multiple neurological symptoms as a result of whiplash. I looked up attorneys in my area and saw all the amazing reviews for Stravitz Law firm, so I decided to give them a call. I spoke to Eric, and immediately felt a connection before meeting him. He was extremely pleasant and professional over the phone, and my first in person impression was the same. Eric listened, offered an empathetic ear. and that confirmed I was in right place. My case took 3 years to resolve because of setbacks we faced during COVID. During that time Eric, and his staff Kyle and Laura handled my case with kid gloves. They kept me informed and checked in with me often. It was comforting to know they were taking care of me, and I didn't have to second guess they were working on my behalf and had my best interest in mind. My case finally settled this year, 2024. The preparation Eric and his staff took to get me ready for trial was impressive. I had the option to go to trial, but decided to settle, and I would have settled for less but Eric counseled me, which ultimately led to a larger settlement. I am extremely grateful for his guidance as well as strong and shrewd negotiating skills. If you are looking for a Law firm and lawyer that you can trust, don't hesitate to give Eric a call! You will be glad you did!

Eric and Kyle were amazing throughout the process. They kept me informed and explained thoroughly each step. The accident happened at the worst time (not that there is ever a good time for an accident) and I really didn’t know what to do. I’ve never been through something like this before and they took all of the stress and strain out of the situation. They were always very warm and comforting and I really felt like they had my best interest at heart.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lanham, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
