If you want somebody who will tell you what you want to hear and then not follow through with what she said she would do then this is your lawyer. I hired her for a divorce case and at the time the opposing side had not gotten all the information they should have provided. Bethany said she would start off with subpoena all the information that was not provided. This was never done. She acted like she had fought for me and did all she could later to find out she was lying to me. I now have no recourse and my kids continue to get hurt by my ex. I went with her because of all the positive reviews and recommendations. I don’t want someone else to make the same mistake I did.

Bethany was brought in after a few months into my divorce. She gave me at the beginning a sense of relief. I have to say that I had high hopes at the beginning. I really thought this person was going to do everything she could for me. She did know opposing attorney. I didn’t know at the time this could be a problem All proceedings were done on video because of pandemic. I never met Bethany one time in person. During this time I became very sick from coronavirus and I was suffering from the affects of having the virus. Brain fog, memory, speech, and comprehension problems. My problems from coronavirus were problematic. It caused a lot of tension between her and I. My coworkers also said I was a pain. My coworkers lately have explained to me about how it was difficult talking or even just listening to me. I understand the level of difficulty it was for Bethany dealing with me. This lasted well past final divorce. I had asked her to recover monies that spouse was spending unnecessarily. During separation she gave me 3 different reasons how dissipation was worked out. She even made no attempt to discuss settlement with me. She made it on her own. Sent late at 10:30 pm. Made aware by email from her that she sent it at 1:00 next day. I got home from work and dr appt and she put a 2:00 deadline. Her email did not state 2:00 deadline. No chance to do anything on it. All the statements I asked her prior or what she told me she was putting in settlement she never did. Statement I asked her to ask opposing attorney a question during settlement she said she did but I found later she never did. . Bethany not letting me speak to mediator as to why 2 bank accounts were removed in entirety. Funds from a loan were removed and also dissipation. I couldn’t talk to mediator and Bethany didn’t acknowledge what I emailed her to put in agreement. Honestly who could I go to now since I was told this? The accounts removed jeopardized my federal job. Bethany not accepting what secondary attorney said to put in agreement on settlement day. 3 videos total conferences over the whole time period. As I stated at the beginning I did have high hopes for her. When I fell sick things just didn’t go well after that.

After making a $25k mistake by retaining the first Family Law attorney that appeared in a google search who was a complete idiot who would charge me just for him to sit there and tell me stories, take my calls and confused me with other cases & could never remember any of the details on my case. I had to find another attorney. I finally had enough due to my Divorce & Custody cases being a complete mess. So I found Bethany Shechtel with BGS Law. In my opinion Bethany turned out to be the best Family Law Attorney in Montgomery County. Bethany quickly cleaned up all of the messes that were created by my previous attorney and got my cases back on track. Her support staff were excellent (Thank you Donna & Sharon!) When COVID-19 hit & the courts closed Bethany was proactive to ensure that when the courts opened that we were ready to get the cases resolved quickly, cost effectively and as stress free as possible. I absolutely recommend hiring Bethany! She has made my divorce and custody process the most smooth as she possibly can! She responds to all messages and emails in a timely manner and breaks down EVERYTHING to her best ability for you to understand. One of the most amazing lawyers I have ever met. My husband and I had a very difficult crazy family court case. We thought there was no hope and it was only a month from trial, she got us an amazing settlement. She ensured we got her everything that was needed. Bethany was very thorough, she kept me updated at all times and strategically led me in all the right directions for me to gain custody of my 3 kids!
