My husband just died. He left me various tasks to do for him. There is a problem that prevents me to do one of the tasks. It is about tax. I am not really sure who can I trust, who can I ask. I prayed hard for solution. Then one sleepless night, I was in the front of my computer. I googled " Tax Lawyer near me". The very first name came out was his. I read the reviews . He is their saint and savior! And then I thought he could be my savior too. I hit my keyboards and started to email him. I told him what bothers me. I sought for his professional advice... Hit send and went to sleep consoling and telling myself not to expect and that he may not waste his time to me. I was wrong, on the second day I got email from him saying " Please call me ". I was so surprised and relieved . He is very accommodating, professional and very straight forward . He taught me what to do and even guide me how to do my solution. He spent time and double checked if am doing it right. What a man! He doesn't know me but he accommodated me and didn't take anything in return. Since then, I spread the news. Telling anyone to get this lawyer if they will have problems in tax. Not all heroes wear capes !!

While it's clear to me that Kamyar deals with much larger cases than mine, he gave us every indication that our state and Federal tax concerns were of the highest priority to him. He has been so thorough, so proactive, so friendly and so helpful in every imaginable way, helping us navigate the process for offers-in-compromise. He made a potentially stressful situation so easy to navigate, ensuring our compliance with state and Federal regulations and arriving at a very desirable outcome, saving my family tens of thousands of dollars. We were amazed at the results and give him our highest recommendation and praise.

My wife and I consider Attorney Kamyar a blessing to our family, a true God sent. We owe over $100,000.00 to IRS and State of Maryland. After a job loss and struggling to pay the taxes, threats of liens on our property and bank accounts, we realized it was out of our control and we needed help. We had considered other firms that sent out mailings and advertised on television, but did not feel comfortable or trust organizations out of state and felt it would better for us if we could meet the attorney face to face. When we met with Kamyar, we felt at ease and though there were no guarantees we felt we could trust him to do his best for us. He was very approachable and answered any questions without making us feel bad about us being in this situation. As soon as he started working on our behalf, the threats and request for payments stopped. We were ecstatic. Any time we called him, if we had to leave a message, he returned our call without having to wait days. By the time Kamyar was done, the IRS put us in non-collectable status, and the Comptroller of Maryland put us on a 33 month repayment plan where we pay them under $150 per month. We would highly recommend if anyone has a tax problem, CALL Kamyar Mehdiyoun!

For over 13 years, I struggled with a complex tax issue that many in this industry were unable to help me resolve. My tax issues stretched from the states of California and Georgia and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). 1. My tax liability with the IRS was over $123,000. 2. The State of California erroneously charged me an untold amount of taxes when I was not living or working there. The state passed liens on my assets and collected more than $14,000 from my pay and my bank account. I am extremely happy to have discovered Mr. Mehdiyoun. He is one of the few lawyers with whom I found myself to be very comfortable. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field, professional, honest, and his fees are very reasonable considering his expertise. He does not mislead nor does he promise things that he cannot deliver. During my initial intake, he promised to resolve my tax issues in 6 months. I was pleasantly surprised to see that he was able to deliver on his promises in exactly six months. 1. In exactly 6 months the Mehdiyoun Law Firm coordinated with the IRS to settle my account and reduced my liability to only $240.00. You can do the math of the amount of savings he worked out for me. 2. Although the state California tax issue was not part of the deal, he voluntarily decided to help me with that state. He communicated with the State of California who later rescinded the liens on my assets and admitted of their error. Prior to the Mehdiyoun Law Firm, everyone I approached did nothing but take my money and waste my time. While others stole my money for over 13 years without a resolution, he was able to work with the IRS to do it in 6 months. I was extremely fortunate to find someone so honest and extremely knowledgeable. During the process, he was also very responsive to my email and phone inquiries. Basically, I am immensely grateful to Mr. Mehdiyoun expertise in the intricacies of US tax laws and transactions with the IRS. His are by far the best in this industry. His professionalism is second to none.

Mr. Banks was both knowledgeable and responsive to my legal needs. Mr. Banks is by far the best Attorney in the Washington Metropolitian area. He is a Harvard University graduate which in my opinion speaks for it's self! I was proud and tranquil while my case was open due to the diligent works of Mr. Banks.

I would highly recommend Robert Baum to represent anyone going through a divorce. After my disappointing experience with a previous attorney, who mishandled my case from the start, I contacted Bob with the hopes of getting an experienced and seasoned divorce attorney. Boy did I make the best selection!! He was always available and knowledgeable with all of my legal options. My case was especially volatile, with many twists and turns along the way yet Bob was up for every challenge I faced. In the end, I was awarded everything I deserved. Bob provided quality legal services and knew the law. His experience with litigation was especially gratifying! Bob makes you feel like you're his only case! Thank you again Bob for everything you've helped me through Now that its finally over, I feel like my good friend is moving away. You cant find a better person.

I had a very good experience working with Cecere Law. They were patient and explained everything along the way which was important to me and they were able to get me a much larger settlement than I expected. They treated my case with respect and dignity and they were available whenever I needed them. It was a white glove type of experience and I would recommend them to anyone in need of a PI attorney.

Jacob Cecere, is one of the outstanding attorneys I have come across in my life. Got into an accident and before I got hold of Jacob, I met a couple who said they could not take my case and referred me to him. He actually proved to me he was exceptional. He took my case and it was done with, in a timely fashion. I definitely recommend him to anybody who needs an accident attorney.

Jake and his team have been a godsend in a terrible and terrifying time in my life. I was referred to him by my friend's mom and he truly handled my case with ease and got me the best outcome in a scary situation than I could have asked for. He not only made the process easy but offered sound advice that went above and beyond what is required for a lawyer. He really wants the best for his clients. I couldn't have asked for anyone better.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Rockville, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
