I cannot recommend Sharon Diamant strongly enough. I consulted with her in early 2022, and her approach was refreshing, real and utterly straightforward. She did not sugarcoat what sort of results she could produce, and she was very straightforward in giving me all of my options. Sharon always got back to me when I texted her. If she was in Court, she said so. She met with me on my schedule, which usually included Saturday mornings. When we were in Court, she was organized and prepared. My custody case actually wound up going before a Judge, and she presented my case in a methodical and easy-to-follow way. She simplified a very complex process. She appears to be incredibly well-liked by her colleagues and the Court, and it was clear to me she is well-respected. I was very impressed by her calm, rational and reasoned demeanor. She answered every question I had and was never condescending, nor did she ever make me feel like I wasn't the most important client she had. On a personal note, Sharon is an absolute sweetheart. She always insisted I call her by her first name, and it is very clear this lawyer has no ego. She is there to get a job done. I don't recommend divorce, but if you have to go through a divorce or custody case, you cannot go wrong with Sharon. I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER.

Sharon is one of the best family attorney that America has ever produced that I've worked with. During my first meeting, she explained everything to me from the beginning to the end that i could understand and she was very involved and responsive to all of my questions in my divorce case. She represented me until I finally got my divorce. If anyone is looking for a knowledgeable, caring and family lawyer, at a reasonable price, than call the law office of Diamant Gerstein, LLC, and specifically ask for Sharon Diamant, Esquire. She's one of the "BEST" family lawyer that I had retained and I highly recommend her because she gets the job done in a timely manner.

I live in South Carolina. My granddaughter lives in Maryland. I am a grandmother and great grandmother. Retired for over 20 years and I explained my dilemma as a retiree working on a budget. She was extremely understanding and worked with me to come up with a financial plan. Thank you; your staff and Erin for the assistance with this difficult case to ensure the best outcome possible. As I mentioned before, I am so grateful to have found you to represent and advocate for my granddaughter. Although she and I knew that you were passionate about your work and very thoughtful of her continuing on with her life throughout this case, we both knew what had to be done in order for her to realize that she was not going to be exonerated from all of the charges. Sharon also worked me from Lastly, thank you for assisting with expunging her record. I'm grateful for that also. I would recommend your firm to anyone. One thing for sure, I didn't have to do too much because you were behind the scenes working all the time although we thought you were not. Your work was fluid and you were direct with your actions the entire time. BRILLIANT WORK! Sincerely, "LL"--

You want to have a lawyer if you plan to divorce. There are many lawyers to choose from, but not all are excellent. Sharon Diamant is outstanding. She’s so much more than a competent attorney, she is a superhero. My divorce was painful and messy. Sharon defended me with ferocity, and she put me in my place at the same time. Exactly what I needed. My bruised ego and hurt feelings screamed for vengeance, but she calmly and rationally explained that my moral righteousness would cost me untold thousands of dollars and prolong the separation I most desperately needed. Thank G-d I listened. Sharon excels at communication. She answers her own phone! She texts when she can’t talk. She’s honest and direct. She sets high standards for herself and her clients. Sharon will not waste your time and money pursuing actions that she does not support. Not a few times Sharon offered to refer me to an attorney who would do my bidding because she refused to do it. Sharon is a warrior -- a former criminal prosecutor who knows Maryland divorce law inside and out. Divorce is difficult. It’s painful. You want a powerful attorney; also, you may need to be saved from yourself. Sharon Diamant is a lifesaver. Eternally grateful!

Sharon Diamant recently represented our business in small claims court and won our case for us. She was professional, respectful, attentive and thorough. She was always available to respond to our questions and concerns and treated us like we were her most important client. We have used other attorneys in the past, but Sharon’s knowledge and expertise of the law is second to none. We will definitely be recommending Sharon to family and friends as she knows the law and gets results.

Melanie an inspiring attorney! She has a passion for law which I don't think I have ever seen. She loves what she does and always has her clients best interest in mind. I wouldn't want any other person on my side. She fights for what is right and just! I loved working with her and watching her kick butt in court!

Mr. Banks was both knowledgeable and responsive to my legal needs. Mr. Banks is by far the best Attorney in the Washington Metropolitian area. He is a Harvard University graduate which in my opinion speaks for it's self! I was proud and tranquil while my case was open due to the diligent works of Mr. Banks.

We were in a situation that we needed to back out a real estate contract signed without the full knowledge of the property, but the deceiving seller threatened to pursue damage far beyond earnest money deposit (EMD) Before talking to Jonathan Bromberg, we consulted with two other lawyers, paid initial consultation fees. Neither offered any constructive opinions but had no problem representing us with additional fees. Without much hope left, we sought help from Jonathan Bromberg. When we met with Jonathan, he was fully prepared and was honest with our situation. With his experience and competence, he was able to find grounds to defend us. Our case finally resolved itself with the seller taking the EMD. Our experiences with Jonathan was absolutely positive. We felt lucky to have met him. I would not hesitate to have Mr. Bromberg representing us in the future if needed.

I would like everyone to know that because of Mr Bromberg's knowledgeable guidance and advice the John Hancock Insurance company approved my mothers Assisted Living insurance for Riderwood retirement community after denying it for one year. Furthermore, John Hancock has now agreed to make it retroactive to one year ago. This is a huge burden off my family.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Rockville, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
