Not enough good words in the English language to say about Rand. He goes above and beyond for his clients and truly cares about getting you the best result. I have hired Rand several times and he has always been communicative and receptive to all ideas and approaches. He is highly knowledgeable about the law as well as the potential judges and prosecutors you might encounter. Rand has provided me with high quality representation at an affordable price. I could not recommend anyone more so than him and as a trained attorney that says a lot. Go forward with Rand you will not be sorry about your decision. Smart, well spoken, confident, realistic, experienced, and caring are the best adjectives I can provide to encapsulate how great of an attorney and person Rand is.

Rand Lucey from Jezic & Moyse, LLC is a superb lawyer. I had a legal issue with some pretty life altering outcomes if I didn't have a lawyer represent me - well he did and his firm did. They had weekend hours during a major snowstorm - and he was there. He was amazing in court, my charges were reduced to just a $150 fine. He and his firm were amazing helpful and put my mind at rest- not to mention my family's minds. I highly recommend Rand and his firm to anyone that needs legal help. I haven't slept that well in a long time. I go to him and his firm for all my legal needs, you should too.

This guy knows what he is doing, plus his firm is famous in the DMV area. What he did for me was BIG. He did such a good job people thought i was an informant, lol. Thats what the Jezic firm and Rand Lucey does. They do such a good job people that aren't familiar with their level of expertise cant believe the outcomes in the courtroom. I got in trouble for too much medical mmj and the jezic Firm said to me "its just MMJ". I felt super safe with Rand Lucey. Thanks. 3rd I

On the afternoon of Easter Sunday 2014 I was cited for DUI in Montgomery County following a brunch. My BAC was .09. I had never encountered the criminal Justice system before and was very nervous. Rand helped me keep the entire situation in perspective, walked me through the process, was responsive, thoroughly answered my questions, and identified a few defenses to help me secure a favorable outcome. He also prevented me from entirely losing my driving privileges. Ultimately, the DUI charges were dismissed and I plead guilty to reckless driving, receiving one day of unsupervised probation and a fine, all pursuant to a PBJ. I don't know if my result was representative, but I do know that I was absolutely satisfied with the representation I received and without equivocation endorse Attorney Lucey. Please note I also wrote a similar review for his partner David Moyse who was also instrumental in helping me secure this favorable outcome.

Mr. Lucey was totally dedicated to my serious felony jury trial, quickly responding to all my inquiries and meeting with me about two dozen times before trial. He is endlessly patient and honest. He was very flexible around my schedule and my personal needs. He always ensured that my needs and anxieites were addressed. He is also a great team player. His closing argument to the jury was very persuasive and captivating, yet plain spoken, as he spoke directly to the hearts of the jurors. The jury returned a not guilty verdict in a mere two and a half hours. I highly recommend him.

Ms. Jorge helped my wife and I prepare and submit a petition for my wife to adjust status to become a US permanent resident. There is so much disinformation and uncertainty in the process, so we are grateful for how thorough Ms. Jorge's guidance and preparation is. We really appreciate how she made sure we prepared a thorough set of evidence such as family photos to make our application as strong as possible and to assist the officers is learning about our marriage. She was also extremely responsive to our questions throughout the process which helped us prepare and put our minds at ease. Thanks to her preparation of our application and for the interview, our petition was approved within 24 hours of the interview, wow!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Silver Spring, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
