WE ALL HAVE our favorite lawyer jokes. I know I have a couple. And, believe me, I’ve spent more than my fair share of time inside court rooms, so the jokes are rooted in half-truth. Yet and still, when a serious and life-altering circumstance is thrust upon you through no fault of your own, sometimes, you have no choice but to seek legal counsel. In early 2020, our family required the expertise of a reputable law firm when my own power of persuasion failed to move to settlement the entities that I believed were responsible for the slip and fall that befell my elderly mother. A retired judge in Chicago referred me to the law firm of Gilman and Bedigian in Maryland. A reputable law firm means attorney’s fees. Yeah. Whatever. No one likes the idea of splitting a potential settlement or judgment with the butt of all the lawyer jokes, right? EXCEPT, I researched Gilman and Bedigian until I ran out of things to know about them. So, I reached out. Did my mother have a strong case? I thought so. Gilman and Bedigian, LLC must have thought so too because they took the case. Today, 4 years, dozens of motions, many hearings, a 3-day circuit court jury trial, and appellate court opinion and mandate later, my mother’s case is over. A settlement was secured for my mother and so was a jury decision in her favor (I heard it was the highest jury award in that county in years) AND an appellate court affirmation of the judgment. My 94-year-old mother and my entire family have nothing but high praise for Lauren Geisser, the attorney who worked with my mother. Lauren is kind and understanding. Lauren is smart, knowledgeable, and professional. She is a damn good attorney! From day one, Gilman and Bedigian’s communication was without equal. Lauren and her colleagues, including Jennifer, Kelsey, Anthony and Elizabeth, are accessible…easy to reach and quick to respond. Each and every one of them is friendly and professional. They all took a personal interest in my mother’s well-being. Honestly, we are half-sorry the case is over. That is how much we like and respect each person we worked with over the past 4 years. Of course, this manner of doing business is not by accident. It starts at the top with Charles Gilman. The bottom line is this: If we had to do it all over again, we would absolutely, without hesitation choose Lauren Geisser and Gilman and Bedigian, LLC to press my mother’s interests in and out of the courtroom. I had a near fatal car wreck in Oct. 2017 and Gilman & Bedigian was there from beginning. It turned out that not much coverage from responsible driver, but the managed to get medical bills paid and some for me.

This law firm was recommended to me, the person had a huge law suit so maybe they were treated better because of the amount of money this firm would make. Mine was a slip and fall case. It’s been a year since my fall. I never (not even once) received a call from any one at this firm about an update. I’d call and call and get the run around. There was no communication on their end. After about 9 months i called just for an update. I was told “ my case was on someone’s desk and they apologize that nothing was processed” once i threatened to look for better legal representation, they began to work on my case. Sent me an email stating to give them 60 days, i have them 90 days just for good measure but periodically called just to check the status. I’ve been given the same story every single time “ we havent heard from the adjuster” i will never use this law firm ever again! it’s been a year and No true process has been made!
