Roger represented us in a custody and visitation dispute. He handled a difficult family situation and dynamic professionally and knowledgeably. He was there for mediation and prepared for court. Filed contempt charges when the current court order was not being followed. When the stress of the situation was intense he told me to relax, that I was in good hands and he was right. We got the outcome in court we wanted.

Roger will take the time to walk you through the process of an appeal to see if it's worth your time and resources. He and his network of former staff attorneys from the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court taught me that strict compliance with the rule of law is necessary or you will waste your time and resources. This means that the record must be cited accurately, facts must be taken from the record and you must comply with all the rules. Judges do not want to be overturned. Contact Roger, so he can help you preserve your rights on appeal. He did for me.

I found Roger here on Avvo and he took on my unique and uncommon case that luckily he already had experience with. He explained things thoroughly but made no promises; he professionally provided his opinion while not guaranteeing any sort of outcome. He was very laid back and easy to talk to, unlike other attorneys that act as if they have a stick up their ass. My case took two years and several appearances in court, but we won in the end. Thanks Roger, I truly appreciate your hard work on my case.

Roger has been an amazing lawyer to have in my corner for the past two years. He is always very responsive, even on the weekend or evening hours. He took the time to review the full extent of my child custody case. His excellent knowledge of child custody enforcement laws led to me gaining full custody of my daughter. He was very aggressive in the court room and made sure all of my rights were taken care of. His fees are very reasonable for the amount of knowledge and time he put into my case. I would highly recommend Roger to anyone going through a custody battle especially for the fathers who are discouraged by people telling them Maryland is a woman state and they have no upper hand in custody. He is definitly someone I have put a lot of trust in.

Mr. Munn was recommended to me by my family attorney to help me while I am going through the mental/financial crisis of exploring a divorce after 30 years. He saw me within a few hours of my call, even though it was his day off. He took time to actively listen to me, then patiently explained all of the details of the process, and made specific recommendations on how to proceed. This is a very emotional time, and I need to weigh the consequences before taking next steps. But I feel Mr. Munn is very competent, knowledgeable, thorough, and most importantly, he is easy to talk to and understand. I know he is the person I will choose to handle my case. He speaks with honesty and integrity, and treats me like a real person. I have already recommended him to my friends. Whoever reads this review, please know Mr. Munn is like a breath of fresh air when dealing with a divorce--truly exceptional, and like finding a needle in a haystack!! You won't be disappointed.--Jeannie

I was involved in a vehicular accident, the settlement of which was handled by Attorney Grant A. Posner. Throughout the proceedings the firm represented me in a kind, courteous and professional manner, keeping me fully informed of the proceedings and at all times expressing empathy. The settlement concluded in a most efficient manner the outcome of which was met with my total satisfaction and as a result, I will therefore recommend Attorney Grant Posner for his integrity and his commitment to deliver exceptional service to his client.

Grant and his team were the utmost professionals and would field my questions or concerns at a moments notice. He was positive and had a plan from the beginning, comforting me at ever turn. If you are ever in an unfortunate accident turn to the team at Posner. I couldn't even imagine where I would be if it wasn't for Grant.

I'm forever grateful to have had Grant represent me during my case. After being in an auto accident in 2012, I was hesitant to hire a lawyer. I soon realized that I needed one and "working" with the insurance company was just a waste of time. This accident was the most difficult and trying time in my life, but thankfully with Grant by my side I was able to get a fair settlement and finally close this chapter. Grant is not afraid to go to trial and ALWAYS has your best interest in mind. He went above and beyond the call of duty and provided diligent and personalized legal representation. Grant fought endlessly on my behalf, responded to countless phone calls and emails from me throughout the last 3 years and always did so with a smile. If you've ever dealt with a lawyer you know this is not the "norm". Thank you, Grant! I'm not sure I would've been able to get through all of this without you. If you're ever unfortunate enough to go through an auto accident and need legal representation I proudly and HIGHLY recommend Grant and his team. ‪

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Timonium, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
