Had a debt close over $5k (Lendmark). Fradkin & Weber took me to court with a decision favoring them- as it should. I attempted to comply with the decision by completing my interrogatory ON TIME but reaching out to work out a payment plan. The paralegal I talked to (name starts with a G) told me to include the payment offer in the interrogatory. I also asked that they email me back for confirmation of receipt and whether the payment plan worked. I emailed the address given to me by the paralegal AND receptionist. I never heard back and even followed up (email and phone). Every time I called, I was left on hold for about 15-30 minutes. When G finally answered, I was met with nasty energy and replies. She claimed it was never emailed and they went ahead with pushing for bank freezes and garnishments even though I was clearly trying to pay. The only way they were able to get my bank information and my new employer was from the interrogatory! It wasn't until over a month later that I learned they rejected my payment plan and the only reason I learned this was because I called to ask why their motioning for a freeze and garnishment if I presented a payment plan (they rejected it but didn't feel the need to communicate their decision). Then G denied all the information she told me in our phone conversations and that I didn’t attempt to work with them. Fast forward I emailed the lawyer with an offer to pay the whole debt under certain conditions and then all of a sudden, the email worked and they were able to communicate. Even in the settlement agreement sent, they tried to throw some shady wording in it. I filed a complaint with Maryland’s Attorney Grievance Commission and used all records of communication as evidence of their misconduct and malicious actions. It wasn’t until I mentioned the complaint that they were better, but I still didn’t trust them with any bank information. I made a payment directly with Lendmark because I truly believed if I made a payment to this law firm, they would have lied about receiving it. My suggestion is to keep all documentation of communication and if you feel their conduct is unprofessional and malicious, file a complaint. The system is in their favor (the lawyer lied on his letter about dates and communication between us and they took his word over my records) but maybe someone in the MD bar will eventually have morals and old them accountable.

Fradkin & Weber pa need to be investigated ASAP. They continue to come for me for a 10 year old loan from 2014 for the amount of $5k which I have paid back almost $20k total up to date and it is not making any sense. I took a $5k loan out in 2014 made payments on time up until I had a financial hardship in 2016. In 2017 I woke up to frozen bank accounts and a Garnishment order from the courts. First time hearing about them. Fradkin & Weber pa Never reached out prior, to try to come to an agreement to pay off the balance. From 2017 to 2018 they were garnishing my checks until I stopped working at that Job leaving a balance of $1,700. Never heard from them until 2019 when they took me back to court. I showed up to court and they did not. Never heard from them again until 2022 when I received a new garnishment order from the courts but I was no longer working at that employer. In 2023 I receive another garnishment order for almost another $7k.(wished the courts would work as hard on child support cases as they do cases like this one) They have been successfully garnishing my checks since the summer of 2023 and till this date still are. I called today requesting copies of all the payments that have been taken since the 1st garnishment and they said they send out monthly statements and will not send my request. I explained i have not received their monthly statements and even then I was still told NO and repeated that they send monthly statements. How do I not have a right to see the amount of payments that have been made by me to them? I have no issues paying back what I owe and then some but at this point i feel as they are taking full advantage of me not questioning them. But now I have tons of questions that need Answers. And from all the other reviews and reviews on the BBB site this company has no issues taking full advantage of people who don't speak up and allow it like

Best law firm in Baltimore. James has helped me with many legal challenges and has always represented me with top notch care and service and I go to him with any legal concerns I have in Maryland. If he doesn’t specialize in what I’m looking for he will find me a colleague that will give me great representation. Very knowledgeable, personable, and cares about all of his clients.

The best experience with a Lawyer I have ever had. Mr. Rogyom was extremely knowledgeable, personable, compassionate and kind when I needed assistance after the passing of my mom. I cannot give a high enough raving review. Thank you so much for your council, and walking me through this process. It was a pleasure working with you. Sincerely, and with gratitude. Mrs. Kelly

Jeff was an absolute pleasure to work with on setting up our wills and advance directives. From our introductory call to the signing of the final documents, Jeff walked us through the process efficiently and thoroughly. He answered all of our questions throughout and gave us all the guidance we needed. We appreciate that Jeff traveled to our home to complete the signing and filed the documents on our behalves. It was a straightforward process from beginning to end and we are thankful to Jeff for his legal knowhow and client focus.

I called Jeff for a question that I had after being referred to him by someone else. Jeff was able to get with me on the phone me quickly and gave me his time quite readily. He listened to me in full and talked me through the situation and some options that I had, even referring me to someone with different expertise who could also be of help to me. At no point, did he cut me off or try to sell me on his services, which I appreciated. Rather, he told me his opinion honestly and with good intent. I appreciated Jeff's professionalism and willingness to promptly talk to me and for his time. Thanks Jeff!

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.
  7. What is the expected timeline for my case?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Towson, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
