You will not find more dishonest people in the business. I was lied to every step of the way. Their office manager smiles to your face while blatantly lying to you. The attorneys are despicable.

You can not trust seigel or rouhana or Cohen with your case. They will not represent you in good faith. The worst mistake of my life was hiring them. For some reason they feel entitled to just take as much money from you as they want without you even knowing. They will never tell you the truth. They work behind the scenes the entire time to damage you. They constantly have complaints filed against them and they don't even care. They are known in the industry as the firm that sells out their own clients. Do not hire them. If you already hired them, Run! You can fire them any time and get a new attorney.

If I could rate with no stars, I would. I had a case opened since June 2023 and no measurable results can be seen. The communication is terrible as far as the legal counsel goes. Every time I call to check on the status of my case, it’s like my case has just been opened and they just found out about it. My mom referred me to this law firm because she used it for workers compensation after being harmed on the job. She didn’t know that they would drag their feet on my car accident case. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this firm to others.

Attorneys have an ethical obligation to defend their clients to the best of their ability, to fight for them and get them the best result possible financially. They are not supposed to intentionally harm the people that pay them. Seigel and Rouhana have completely rejected this code of ethics for attorneys. They have decided their clients do not matter and it's all about them. They will not defend you. They will not fight for you. They will not even try to get you good results in your case. They will lie to you and work behind your back cutting deals with the opposing attorneys and the doctors that work for this firm. They get the majority of the money that you are legally entitled to. They will deceive you and make you think Maryland WC law is just not fair and you have to accept barely any medical treatment and barely any money. This is not true. You deserve at least 5 times the amount of money Seigel and Rouhana say you need to accept. You deserve to get all the medical treatment you need to be made whole again. Do not listen to these dishonest, corrupt, unethical men or their staff. They are lying to you. Everyone that works at this firm is lying to you. Please call around get several opinions. If I would have done that my entire life would be so much better. Instead I thought I could trust Seigel and Rouhana and this was the biggest mistake of my life. I was scammed. They kept my rights hidden from me. I was ignored and lied to. Nothing they did helped me in any way whatsoever. They stole from me and they are proud of themselves for doing it. Hire attorneys that have some integrity. S&R will stoop so low if they believe they can get away with it. Greedy, corrupt and unprofessional. Attorneys have a bad reputation because of people like S&R.

Not sure where to begin attempting to find the right words for Erika; coming from a dad that didn’t know one thing that was involved with gaining full physical & legal custody of my oldest daughter! By far my case was not the easiest, it lingered for years after the win, but she was amazingly remarkable! One thing is for sure I learned a lot from her super knowledge of the ins and outs of the law, and court proceedings! If I needed her she was there! My family and myself always recommend Erika for her diligent service. Erika you rock, and we thank you, RB

I first contacted Mrs.Dannemann Slater back in 2004 for child custody case after meeting with her and getting to know a little more about her I hired her right away to represent myself and my son in this case. Erica fought very hard in this case she put her best foot forward and the outcome was Grand! Fast forward a little I reach out to her again and also hired her for a new case in 2016 for an adoption. She not only won that case as well but she also made us feel like family. She had retained all information from our previous case and also was willing and dedicated to help. Erika jumped right in with details and documents needed for this new case without taking a second guess she jumped out there and begin building this case all while of course making sure she kept the best interest of the child in the Forefront I can never thank her enough for the way she molded and shaped our family into something great. If you are looking for someone willing to fight and stay by your side no matter what hardships come upon you she is the best attorney for the job

Mrs. Slater is the best lawyer in MD, by far! She has handled 3 cases for my family. Mrs. Slater is extremely passionate about her clients and the services that she provides. She was highly recommended to me by a coworker, who's family she represented. I trusts not only Mrs. Slater's experience and education, I completely trust her opinion. She has always displayed that she had my children's best interest at heart. She is extremely organized and confident during trials. She always ensured that I was educated during the process, which eased my anxiety around the trial. I have recommended multiple clients to Mrs Slater, who were all MORE than pleased with her representation. I was even asked for her information by my ex-husband (whom was a defendant in a trial she represented me in) because he wanted to pass her information along for a friend of his. (SHE IS THAT GOOD!!!!!) She is my family lawyer and has been for almost 11 years. I need more stars for this rating.

What Questions Should I Ask Before Hiring a Lawyer?

Hiring the right lawyer is crucial for the success of your case. Here are some important questions to ask during your initial consultation:

  1. What experience do you have with cases similar to mine?
Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.
  6. How will you communicate with me throughout the process?
Establish expectations for updates, preferred communication methods, and response times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Towson, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
