I somehow wish that I could give Attorney Langford more than 5 stars. When I tell you that he saved my family the heartbreak of having our namesake incarcerated for a petty crime in less than 24 hours notice! In addition, Mr. Langford took it upon himself to impart wisdom to my son AND completed expungement paperwork, even though this is something that is well beneath his pay grade. The care and compassion and excellence that he showed me and my family will never be forgotten. These are just the attributes of his character, but his skill as an attorney is even that much more outstanding. He is well connected, prompt, professional but down to earth and has favor amongst his professional peers. I couldn't be more happy and feel more fortunate and blessed to have found him.

I had the pleasure of working with Attorney Langford after being falsely accused of assault and arrested. He came highly recommended by another attorney and he did not disappoint. The man is extremely smart, strategic, and confident! His communication is top tier. He always answered my calls and text which was a big deal for me. He kept it real and gave me all possible outcomes but worked extremely hard to get a victory in my favor. I was denied bail at my first hearing Attorney Langford not only got me out of jail EVERY charge was dismissed. I appreciate Attorney Langford for taking my case worth every penny ! The best in the business hands down !

If you want Thee best criminal defense litigator, then The Edward Landford Law Firm is a 5 star choice no question. Mr Langford delivered on all of his promises. Faced with some severe charges for multiple offenses, he put together a good defense that saved my career, license to drive, and life. Very meticulous, focused, laser smart, charming sense of humor and outgoing smile. His focuse is on one thing. To see that his client is fully represented with the goal to win. He was highly recommended by a former client of his, and some throughout the court system that gave the nod to his prowess. Simply said 'Oh you have the best'. Thank you Mr Langford and your firm for representing me to the fullest. Again, if you need the best attorney to represent you, a 5 star defense attorney, then hopefully I helped in your decision. Good luck.

In life trouble may come. You find you need representation that gives care and tenacity to bring justice for clients.I am the eldest and protector of large family and businesses. Dealt with assorted lawyers thru the years prior to Sheila Fleshman. We endured insurance cases in family, personal injury, accidents, criminal charges.Add in addition business law, which included all of the above and more.Sheila Fleshman will do her very best to represent someone in a way that our judicial system "should" operate. If you need an attorney you need her! If she ran for public office, she certainly would have my vote. Thank you Sheila Fleshman and may God Bless You

I was very satisfied with the services of Ms. Fleshman. I was involved in an auto accident that was caused by the other driver. Ms. Fleshman negotiated with the insurance company to get me the best possible settlement. She was very professional and knowledgeable when dealing with all the parties involved, and she kept me informed. I would recommend her to others as an excellent attorney.

I had actually hired another lawyer to pleade my case. My lawyer thought it would be best to bring in "the expert" and that was Mr. Zuber. My family had just sufferred a major tragedy and he was always so calm in getting us through it. I now live in North Carolina and our lawsuit was finalized 9 years ago. I still call on a Phil when I need a referral for an attorney in my state. He is the best, so I know he knows the best. Mr. Zuber was also facing a family tragedy at the time our lawsuit was going on. I didn't even know about it until our case was over. His compassion was always for us, not for himself. I recommend anyone I know in the Maryland area to use him. I will be forever grateful for helping us make the best out of such a terrible life changing event.

My family and I had the pleasure of having Mr. Zuber handle a very emotional case for us. He is a sensitive, caring, personable human being who we would highly recommend to anyone needing an attorney. He and his assistant, Joan, are extremely professional and quick to respond to any questions, needs, or concerns. Thank you Phil and Joan for helping us through a difficult process.

Having a teenager driver is very worrisome. Mr. Farmer and his team really did a great job on my son’s case. They handled everything so fast and effective we didn’t even have to appear at court. Saved time and money.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Upper Marlboro, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
