As someone in their early 20s and has never had to deal with the legal system David was a guiding light through a really difficult time. From the jump he was there to help me during a free consultation and break everything down for me. He compassionately listened to me and was completely transparent with everything regarding my case. If I had questions on anything he or Judy were able to get back to me within a day. He gave me much needed hope and peace of mind throughout. A genuinely caring and smart individual. He is incredibly well spoken and notably respected in the court room. In the end I had the best possible outcome for a high BAC DUI case. I absolutely would recommend him to anyone seeking legal counsel. I could not thank him enough.

This was my first experience with a lawyer and I'm pleased to report that David is great to work with and provided me with outstanding legal representation. I had several serious traffic citations that dragged on seemingly endlessly. David worked with and persuaded the state's attorney to not prosecute several of the more serious charges. At trial, David argued for and persuaded the judge to assign a probation before judgment on the only remaining charge. If I ever need legal representation again I will contact David McFadden. Thanks for everything, David! Burt McKitrick in Westminster.

Mr Mcfadden is an amazing lawyer definitely 10/10!! My pervious lawyer of 2 years tried to overcharge and told me from the jump i wasn’t going to win. Mr Mcfadden was welcoming off of the first phone call and took the time to hear my whole story which is something i really needed. He took the time to meet with me and my mother and priced us reasonably. Communicating wasn’t a problem he answers direct line at anytime and his front desk lady Judy is also very sweet and helpful!! He made sure we would get the best out come and here i am today with a record that will allow me to still peruse my dreams. Not to mention he’s a HUGE advocate for mental health and really understands the importance of it!! Thank you Mr Mcfadden for your help, i pray u can continue blessing🫶🏾

"IN DAVE MCFADDEN WE TRUST" Was facing some serious charges with possible long sentence. Felt like my world had crashed. I had used the dynamic duo ( Dave and Judy) two years ago and was very pleased. So I decided to call again. They guided me with some tough love, reality and treated me like a friend instead of just a client. No phone call, text or email left unanswered. Even when I was down, no matter what day of the week always a response was recieved. Today was my hearing, the outcome was in our favor. I highly recommend Mcfadden Law Offices. My family and I will use his office for all our legal needs. Thank you soo much Dave and Judy!!! I am forever grateful to you both!!

Bob settles our properties and does an excellent job including taking care of the title search at a much better value than you will find elsewhere. He returns calls immediately and takes care of business promptly. I can't say enough good things about him. He is a long time local resident of Westminster and has an excellent reputation here. I would trust him with anything.

Went through several lawyers before finding Denise, but I was definitely pleased with her. Unlike the previous ones, Denise seemed genuinely concerned about my children and I. Never once had to bug her about updates or statuses as she was constantly updating me, and I felt that she took a personal interest in every step of this undesirable process. Wont be dissapointed in using her services...

Brad Webb saved me from a person who had defrauded me out of thousand of dollars in a real estate transaction involving a real estate trust. Brad was able to recover the moneys from the title insurance company plus he was sharp enough to have a meeting at his office with opposing counsel to avoid port to port charges.

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Westminster, Maryland?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
