Mr Maloney was appointed to me as a public defender. He was clear from the very beginning about the consequences and what may or may not be done in my case. It took a little bit for us to get into contact sometimes, but once the case was to appear in court he was on top of everything and was able to communicate clearly what my options were and what to expect once we were in court. Overall, I’m pleased with his performance and his overall professionalism. It also helps that he’s pretty nice not condescending.

Very hardworking and not afraid to take cases to trial if it is in the best interest of the client. I have seen Mr. Maloney in court numerous times. He is very well liked and has a great presence in the courtroom.

I hired James right before the pandemic hit. I thought it would be months before I had to go back into court for a hearing but almost immediately after the courts reopened he was able to get all charges dismissed via a Zoom hearing. I started my case with an expensive dui lawyer. I paid him for a year and a half but I started to feel less and less comfortable with his ability to prove my case and I couldn't really afford him after so many court dates. Peter picked up my case as a public defender and I'm so glad he did. From the first time I talked to him I could tell he was very smart. He always answered all of my questions honestly and didn't sugarcoat anything. Whenever we had a court date he was always paying attention to all cases. I saw him get many of his other cases dismissed while we went through pretrials. I had a trial and he suggested a judge trial based on who the judge was, I agreed. This was the best decision for my case. I was very nervous throughout the trial but every time the prosecutor said something I didn't agree with or that I was worried about he either objected or he had a perfect rebuttal. He's very smart and I know that if I had a different lawyer that I may be in jail right now. I appreciate his efforts more than I can explain. I would definitely recommend him to anyone that asks and I would hire him again privately if I ever need a lawyer again.
